Jacqueline Fernandez’ hairstylist Madhav has done 1000+ songs in Punjab
During the initial days of my training, I used to just look out of the window!
Ace hairstylist Madhav Trehan, who has worked with the likes of Jacqueline Fernandez, is doing really well in his profession today. However, the stylist reveals that it took some time for him to fall in love with his craft. “I am from Amritsar, Punjab. I have been born and brought up there. I have done my schooling from Amritsar itself. After I passed the 10th grade, I learnt hairstyling from Bittu Hans, he is the brother of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s hairstylist Pompy. I was also studying at this time. Once I completed school, I moved to Chandigarh for work,” he says.
Further adding he says, “So, my mother had a salon in Amritsar. But I was more into singing and dancing when I was in school. She would tell me to at least learn the basics of hairstyling, and then continue only if I wanted to. During the initial days of my training, I would be just looking out of the window and wondering when I would go home. But gradually I got interested in the craft, I leant different styles, haircuts and colouring options. This is how I started.”
However, Madhav credits his family for always supporting him. “My family was always very supportive. They would often encourage me to follow my dreams and would appreciate the work that I would do. I would not have reached where I am without their support,” he says.
Talking about his body of work, he says, “I have done 1000+ songs in Punjab from 2015 till now… And in Bollywood, my first project with Jacqueline was her film Mrs Serial Killer. I have also been part of other projects of hers, like the music video, Genda Phool. Then, with Nupur Sanon, I have done a few projects like the music video Filhaal. In fact, we are working on the second part of it also together. I have also done a few events with her.”
Madhav says that although there are a lot of other hairstylists in showbiz today, he doesn’t view them as his competition. “There are so many talented hairstylists out there in the industry. I cannot really compete with any of them as these are the people from whom I have learnt a lot. Like… I have learnt so many things from Amit Thakur, Florian Hurel and Shaanmu and many more,” he says.
Talking about his future plans, he adds, “When I was working in Punjab, at that time, my dream was to work with Jacqueline and now I am working with her. So, she’s my favourite! Working with Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, Priyanka Chopra and so many more celebrities are still in my bucket list. I hope I get to do this soon.
