Lockdown: Maharashtra Government Revokes Relaxations For Mumbai And Pune
MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government on Tuesday made u turn on the relaxations given to establishment to function in the state and withdrew the relaxations from Mumbai and Pune, which are the worst hit in terms of infected people. Maharashtra has now 5218 cases, whereas Mumbai has now 419 new cases. On Tuesday 19 people died in the state.
The state and Mumbai Municipal corporation on April 17th had allowed E commerce companies, Electrical and electronic supplies, sweet shops, confectionaries, courier services, activity related to agriculture products, restaurants with take away and construction activity where workers would be housed near the construction sites. Tuesday’s revised order means all these relaxations are now revoked.
However on Tuesday the Maharashtra government issued a fresh order saying that the relaxations have been withdrawn for the Mumbai Metropolitan region and Pune as the government was seeing a large amount of people outside their homes. On Tuesday the Maharashtra government issued an order which said, “ In view of the large number of people commuting, because of the relaxation issued vide order dated 17th April 2020 and also the imminent threat of further spread of the pandemic it is hereby directed in so far as Mumbai Metropolitan Region and the Pune Metropolitan Region area is concerned the orders issued on 17th April 2020 shall not apply.”
The order further adds, “ The position prevailing prevailing prior the issuance of 17th April 2020 shall be reinstated.” The order furthers states that E commerce delivery would be permitted only of essential commodities, food, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.”
