Lyricist Sudhakar Sharma launched ‘Odhli Music’

A Haryana lad came to mumbai to try his luck in hindi film industry as a lyricist. He did odd jobs and assisted various directors and also did direct a few films. But he rose to fame after his song ‘Odhli main Chunariya…’ from Salman Khan and Kajol film ‘Pyar Kiya To Darna Tha’ became superhit. He is lyricist Sudhakar Sharma. This was first genuine succcess he tasted and its memories have been etched In his heart permantly. After writing two and half dozen songs ‘Odhli..’ is still dear to him. That is the reason when his son Manish wanted to launch a music company, it was named ‘Odhli Music’. A lot of music directors named their residences after their first most successful work. E.g. Ravi named his bunglow ‘Vachan’, Shailendra named his bunglow ‘RimZim’, Jaikishan named his bunglow ‘Bhairavi’, Laxmikant’s bunglow is named ‘Parasmani’ etc. So when my son, Manish Kaushik, wanted to name his new venture, he chose ‘Odhli’. Incidentally Sudhakar Sharma has written more than 180 songs featuring word ‘Chunari’. Sudhakar is thankful to music director Himesh Reshamiya for all the success he has seen so far. He has been a loyalist to Himesh camp and had refused to work with who were Reshamya’s competition.

‘Odhli music’ was launched with recording a song. The Sharmas want to record multiple songs with various singers. They chose Agam Kumar Nigam (Sonu Nigam’s father) for their first song. Both Agamkumar and Sudhakar Sharma have worked together earlier. Lyricist Navrang Bharti’s song was sung by Agamkumar while it’s been composed by Dev Rathod. Those who have heard Agamkumar can vouch similarity in his and his son Sonu Nigam’s voice. At this age too Agamkumar does regular ‘Riyaz’ and it shows in his singing. Manish Kaushik has great plans for his newly formed music company and there’ll be various demarcated sections for different kind of music. Gazals, devotional bhajans, pop, filmy, folk, olden hits etc which will be available for music lovers. He plans to go international after some time and wants to go beyond audio too. They want to revive Indian heritage music. Both father-son duo want to give break to new musicians, lyricists and singers too and want everyone to get their royalty due to them.

The genuine music lovers, Father-son duo, Sudhakar Sharma and Manish Kaushik, want to create enriching ‘good’ music for the benefit of music lovers.
