Mahesh Pandey’s show ‘Gupta Brothers’ gets feedback, ‘Dum dum diga diga, show hit hai’
Corona virus pandemic compelled all shoots to stop and made everyone sit at home. A creative person can not be kept idle for long. Mahesh Pandey whose new serial ‘Gupta Brothers: Chaar Kunwaare From Ganga Kinaare’, was to be a family drama, he has given it a comedy tadka and interestingly everyone is loving it.
Mahesh Pandey Productions’ new show “Gupta Brothers: Chaar Kunwaare From Ganga Kinaare” recently went on-air. Though the show was initially conceptualised as a family drama, post the lockdown the makers changed the whole storyline. The producer says he is happy with the show being appreciated.
“I am getting a lot of positive feedback. The channel, Star Bharat, is also happy with the show. Once the show was available on Hotstar, a lot of people messaged me saying ‘Dum dum diga diga, show hit hai’. ‘Dum dum diga diga’ is a dialogue from our show. So I am happy with all the appreciation coming our way,” he said.
“Gupta Brothers: Chaar Kunwaare From Ganga Kinaare” revolves around the life of four brothers who are self-sufficient and feel that they don’t need a woman in their life. It features Hiten Tejwani, Akash Mukherjee, Satya Tiwari, and Meet Mukhi as the four brothers, and also has Sonal Vengurlekar, Parineeta Borthakur, and Rinku Dhawan on-board.
Asked if he ever thought of the risk involved in making a male-oriented show, he said, “Risk is always there, be it any show. It’s just in our head that we can’t have a show without making it women-centric. We can most definitely make a men-oriented show and can include a woman’s point of view too. With ‘Gupta Brothers…’, I was very sure that the story would be from Hiten’s point of view from the word go. And it’s not like we have not included women, and neither the four brothers hate women, they respect them a lot.”
“I am sure, after watching our show, every woman will ask their husband why can’t you do all these things, because the four brothers have handled everything so well, from cooking to cleaning. It’s not a gender-specific show, it’s for everyone, from men, women, kids, seniors, everyone. There is no vulgar comedy in our show, it’s a pure family drama. And being in the industry for so long I have realised that you can’t shock the audience with a completely new concept, so we have included everything from new to old and created this beautiful dramedy,” he added.
Mahesh is quite strict when it comes to following the protocols because of the Coronavirus pandemic, he said, “We are following all the government protocols. We have doctors on the set, we sanitise the whole set frequently. People wear masks. We keep telling everyone to be extra careful. I am very clear on the set that if I find anyone without a mask or not following any protocols, I will ask them to leave immediately. Apart from the actors, if anyone found not following the protocols, will be asked to leave.”
“Gupta Brothers: Chaar Kunwaare From Ganga Kinaare” is produced by husband-wife duo Mahesh and Madhu Pandey. This is their fifth show after “Anamika”, “Saubhagyavati Bhava”, “Yeh Vaada Raha” and “Vidya”. Talking about his wife, he said, “I was very clear that if I ever form a company my wife will be my partner. She never interferes in my creative space and she handles the finances, she keeps me updated and we both take care of it together. My wife is more practical and more upfront than me. And I feel having your partner or someone from your house in the same company becomes your security net, it lessens your stress.”
