Makers of ‘Kooki’ drop trailer, film releasing on Jun 28th!

A girl dies once when she is slain; if she is raped and lives, she dies every second of her life. Can we even think of what a rape victim goes through? Can we imagine the scale of the pain a girl can feel after a brutal rape? The film Kooki tries to answer such unanswered questions and is now ready to release in cinemas on June 28, 2024.

A few shocking scenes and strong punches in the Kooki trailer entice viewers to watch the movie. The trailer starts with the scene of a rape victim being questioned, followed by a discussion between a few teenage friends. A glimpse of an innocent teenage love story can also be seen. A brutally raped girl is taken to the hospital, investigations go on, and the public comes on the road demanding the justice of the rape victim. The trailer ends with lots of unanswered quotes.

The house-hold name of Indian television, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, has played the role of a journalist in this film, and apart from her, Ritisha Kound, Reena Rani, Asha Chotani, Rajesh Tailang, Ritu Shivpuri, Dipannita Sharma, Bodhisattva Sharma, Bibhuti Bhushan Hazarika, Mrigendra Narayan, Manuj Borkotoki, Bandip Sharma, and Ujjwal Barua have also played important roles in the film.

While talking to the media, Devoleena says, “I’m acting like a journalist in Kooki. To find out what I did in this underage girl’s rape case, you will need to see the movie. It has also been demonstrated in my character that sometimes people can’t accomplish their goals despite their best efforts. A law-abiding individual fear breaking the signal, but a criminal does not fear using the law as a weapon.”

Producer Dr. Junmoni Devi Khound says, “Although rape makes headlines for the media, nobody understands the trauma the victim experiences on a physical and mental level. Initially, I intended to create this narrative in Assamese, but after talking with director Pranab, we decided that Hindi would be a better choice because it is the national language of India, the majority of Indians speak and understand Hindi, and this is a national issue. After receiving positive reviews at the Cannes Film Festival’s Film Market (Marché du Film), we will be releasing this movie in theatres on June 28.”

Kooki is made under the banner of Niri Media OPC Pvt. Ltd. and directed by Pranab J. Deka. Lyrics written by Avinash Chauhan, Ibson Lal Barua, and Dr. Sagar and music composed by Pallab Talukdar, Saurav Mahant, and Tapan Jyoti Dutta add further depth to the story. Sunidhi Chauhan, Divya Kumar, Mohammad Faiz, and Kritika Sharma are singers. Kooki is releasing in cinema on 28th Jun by Jai Viratra Entertainment Limited.
