MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites on Disney+ Hotstar

One of the world’s most prized culinary shows, #MasterChefAustralia is firing up its kitchen for season 14 today on #DisneyHotstar and its avid fans cannot wait to meet its newest team of chefs. Bringing together the trio of judges Jock Zonfrillo, Andy Allen and Melissa Leong, the latest season, MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites, will see 24 contestants compete and celebrate divine cooking, to win the greatest culinary title in the world. The MasterChef kitchen this season has been divided into 12 popular contestants including a few season winners from previous editions like Julie Goodwin, Sashi Cheliah, Billie McKay and others, and 12 foodies from the land down under. They will be competing against each other for the prize money of $250,000. Before you sit down to stream the show on Disney+ Hotstar, here’s a close look at the previously loved contestants from the MasterChef Kitchen who will grace the latest season with their delectable cooking.

Julie Goodwin – The first-ever winner of MasterChef Australia, Julie Goodwin has been an inspiration for many Masterchef Australia contestants across all seasons. Post her victory on the show, this youth-worker became a household name on television displaying her culinary prowess. She began writing regular recipe columns and has written multiple cookbooks.

Billie McKay – Billie McKay was crowned the winner of MasterChef Australia Season 7. Subsequently, she moved to London and took up work in the three-Michelin star restaurant, The Fat Duck. On returning home, she continues to pursue cheesemaking on her family dairy farm.

Sashi Cheliah – The winner of MasterChef Australia Season 10, Sashi Cheliah set up successful restaurants in Melbourne and Adelaide. Following in his father’s footsteps, his son, Ryan, also competed in Junior MasterChef Australia. The supremely talented chef is now excited to bring forth his expertise in Indian, Malaysian, and Chinese cooking to the latest season of MasterChef Australia.

Aldo Ortado – After his stint on MasterChef Australia Season 10, Aldo Ortado went on to appear in various cooking segments on television. He also opened pop up restaurants in Sydney. He wants his fellow contestants to know that he’s back in full swing to win the show.

Alvin Quah – Known for his quirky glasses and a fun, animated approach to cooking, Alvin Quah is a MasterChef Australia Season 2 favourite. His drunken chicken was an absolute hit with the judges and he wants more people to explore Malaysian cuisine. He is back at full throttle, determined to charm and cook his way to the Grand Finale.

Christina Batista – Christina Batista attributes her passion for cooking to her large, loving Portuguese family. Their encouragement led her to the Finals Week of Season 5 of MasterChef Australia. This season, she fully intends to take home the illustrious trophy.

John Carasig – A Season 7 MasterChef Australia star, John Carasig is strongly influenced by his Filipino heritage and is well-known for his precision desserts. He also enjoys cooking with Italian flavours and techniques. It’s this ability to experiment with styles, flavours and different cuisines that make John the one to watch out for in the competition.

Michael Weldon – Since his participation in MasterChef Australia’s Season 3, Michael Weldon has fully immersed himself in food and cooking. He has worked as a chef and restaurateur at multiple venues, made numerous television appearances and now works at Coles as an ambassador and Senior Development Chef developing products.

Mindy Woods – Hailing from an Aboriginal clan of Australia, Mindy Woods first made her appearance in the MasterChef kitchen in Season 4 where she wowed people with her back-to-roots cooking with a focus on raising awareness around some of the world’s oldest living ingredients.

Minoli De Silva – Hailing from the Northern Territory, audiences fell in love with Minoli De Silva’s charming smile and innovative cooking in the previous season. Having held her apron till the 10th place in her last MasterChef Kitchen stint, she is back with fire after having hosted several pop-up restaurants and cooking classes in Darwin.

Sarah Todd – A seasoned chef with culinary adventures spread across the globe, Sarah Todd is an in-demand international chef, restaurateur, TV host, speaker, and entrepreneur who won hearts in Season 6 by cooking aloo gobhi. Harbouring a special relationship with India and now a restaurant in Goa, she learnt about Indian cooking from her ex-mother-in-law, who hailed from Punjab. The Le Cordon Bleu graduate is all revved up to once again charm the judges in the MasterChef kitchen with her unique cooking.

Tommy Pham – A beloved name from the previous season, Tommy Pham charmed judges with his fresh, vibrant Vietnamese-style flavours. The NSW resident returns to the MasterChef kitchen to recreate his culinary magic and make it to Finals week.
