MasterChef India Chef Vikas Khanna says, “Beginner and experienced cooks alike can be tripped up by the elusive poached egg”!

The stakes are high on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV’s culinary reality show, ‘MasterChef India’ as this week, the Top 12 home cooks level up their skill to impress the judges – Chefs Vikas Khanna, Garima Arora, and Ranveer Brar. On Thursday and Friday, during the intense ‘pressure-test’ round, the judges reveal the hero ingredient which is the humble ‘egg’. Training the contestants, Chef Vikas will be seen demonstrating the right way to prepare the perfect poached eggs – a task that is easier said than done.

Chef Vikas shares, “The simpler the ingredients, the harder they are to hero and this week’s MasterChef India pressure test is all about the ande ka funda. Beginner and experienced cooks alike can be tripped up by the elusive poached egg – it is usually assumed that preparing this is very easy, but it is difficult when it comes to the technicalities. Setting these contestants up for a win was important to me and I hope they manage to make the perfectly poached eggs by the end of my demonstration.”

Poached eggs have a reputation for being difficult, but elegant and in this ‘egg-centric challenge,’ Nazia Sultana from Guwahati, Santa Sarmah from Assam, and Priyanka Kundu Biswas from Kolkata will be the first ones to present their dishes followed by Kamaldeep kaur from Punjab, and Suvarna Bagul from Maharashtra. Of these – Kamaldeep makes the best poached egg, which was almost like the one chef Vikas demonstrated. But moving ahead in the test, will Kamaldeep who is coined ‘MasterChef India’s “Punjabi mumma” impress the judges with her final dish?

Sharing her experience home cook Kamaldeep Kaur shares, “I tried my best to present the best-poached eggs and impress the judges to save myself. While making dishes with eggs look like as easy task but when it comes to variety, the task can get very tricky when you are faced with multiple rounds that need to highlight the same ingredient. I hope the judges appreciate my dishes.”

Tune in to ‘MasterChef India’, every Monday-Friday at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and stream on SonyLIV.
