National Award-winning film ‘Mhorkya’ releasing on January 24

Marathi film ‘Mhorkya – The leader’ which won the Best Children’s Film Award at
the 65th National Film Awards, is set to release on January 24. Produced by -Swastik
Priti film production and presented by ‘Aespaes’, ‘Mhorkya’ will be released in India as
well as some other countries.
This is a debut feature film of writer-director Amar Deokar. Along with the best
children’s film, the film’s Raman Deokar and Yashraj Karhade have won special jury
mention National Award for their outstanding performance. Though this is a debut film of
producer, director, and actor, they have made it straight to the national awards. Apart
from this, the film has been screened at many national and international film festivals.
“Mhorkya is not just a story about a little kid learning a parade, but it’s a story of
the world, of history, of everyone around us.”Such was the reaction by the renowned
writer-director Shekhar Kapoor after watching the movie. While the film is getting
publicized on social media, the poster is increasing curiosity about the film. They have
also released a song recorded in Anand Shinde’s powerful voice. In this song, Anand
Shinde has also performed a rap for the first time in his music career.
In this film, child actors Raman Deokar and Yashraj Karhade are accompanied
by Ramchandra Dhumal, Anil Kamble, Surekha Gavhane and the director himself Amar
Deokar. Most of the actors in this movie have no experience of film or any other audio-
visual medium. The film is shot in small towns like Barshi( Solapur district) in very
adverse conditions. It narrates a story of a fourteen-year-old boy fighting to be a leader
of a parade at the school on Republic Day. It is through this story the director has tried
to comment on the leadership in a democracy.
