Neha Mahajan’s ‘The Case’ selected for screening at the prestigious Indian Film Festival in Stuttgart!
#NehaMahajan, who has been part of many Marathi, (Ajoba, Coffee Ani Barach Kahi, One Way Ticket, Tuz Tu Maz Mi etc) Malayalam (The Painted House) and Hindi (Simmba, Gaon, Leila etc) films, has been making noise internationally, in recent times. The actress made her Hollywood debut, last year, in the action thriller ‘Extraction’. Neha’s international connection, once again, has come to the fore as her own production ‘The Case’ has been selected for screening at the prestigious Indian Film Festival in Stuttgart, in Germany. The 18th edition of the festival commences on 21st July of this year. It’s going to be part of Social World Film Festival, 2021, too.
The Case, is a short film, with a run-time of 12 minutes, is directed Arun Varghese. Mr Varghese has been known as an editor and he’s debuting as a director with this short. He produced and directed a documentary, ‘The Sarangi Player’ which was the winner at Kolhapur International Film Festival, 2014 in its category. Incidentally actress Neha Mahajan who plays the main role in ‘The Case’ is a professional Sitar player herself.
In ‘The Case’ Neha Mahajan plays a lawyer named Renu. When she questions another woman’s decision to withdraw a court case, she comes to terms with her own dilemma that threatens to take her world apart. The Case not only highlights the societal deterrents to women seeking justice but also touches upon much sensitive yet taboo issues that plague our society.
