Nikkiey Chawla advices that we should dress up according to who we are!
Now I do wear a lot of colours, but as a kid, I did not NikkieyChawla feels it is important to be fashion conscious but not be a copycat. People make the mistake of becoming fashion crazy and end up wearing the same clothes. But celebs have to be really particular about what they wear as their admirers follow their style. India’s first transgender model and actor feels that one needs to understand that what looks good on Deepika Padukonemight not suit them. Everybody’s type and personality is different and we should dress up according to who we are.
“The best fashion advice I have ever got from people was about my heels. I am already 5 feet 8 inches tall but I feel heels add a dimension to the way I look and I have always been complimented on the same. When you wear heels it gives your body a good posture and amazing confidence,” she says. Chawla encourages everyone to experiment and not just stick to what he or she believes looks good on them. And by experimenting she means, trying new colours, fitsand designs too. “The kind of fabric, colour, design and the way you do your makeup andhair is a reflection of your personality. I shop every two months because Ilove investing in fashion and different styles. I also buy clothes according to my requirements and weather conditions. In Punjab, I can wear anything but Mumbai is very hot and humid so I wear a lot of palazzos, skirts, baggy pants, loosepants etc. I never had a fashion faux pas moment so far. Whether I am going for an event, party or function, I always dress up accordingly and make sure my styling and shoes are on point,” she adds.
The best fashion, according to Chawla, is cold shoulder dresses. If one knows how to flaunt them, they do look good. And the worst trend is people following fashion blindly and ending up doing blunders wearing a particular style wrong. “When I was younger, I wish I was open to experimenting. Now I do wear a lot of colours, but as a kid, I did not. I think I look good in very simple clothes, plain jumpsuits, sarees and don’t like going blingy all the time. I also love saris,” she concludes.
