Nupur Joshi observes, ‘Learning any form of classical dance or music is not easy, it requires a lot of patience and practice’!
#NupurJoshi is fond of classical dancing. The #YehJawaaniHaiDeewani actor, shares that her fascination towards the art form started when she was a kid, as they say, early childhood years are the building blocks of an individual’s life. “As a child, I was blessed to have a family traditionally and culturally well connected with our Indian roots. Both my maternal and paternal side of families believed in learning an art form. They have always encouraged all the children of the family in taking up their interests, and in the process I don’t even remember the time when dancing became part of me, my first love,” says the actor, who is a part of the show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
Nupur calls herself a classical dancer in pursuit. “As I said, the love for dancing came naturally but my formal training in classical dance started recently. I am taking training in Odissi dance from Sangit Mahabharati, Juhu. Classical dance is a discipline. Learning any form of classical dance or music is not easy, it requires a lot of patience and practice. My guru always tells, it requires dedication and commitment towards the art form, and I try to keep up with her teachings to the best of my capabilities,” she adds.
Talking about her inspiration when it comes to dancing, Nupur starts by a quote. “I would like to mention a quote from Abhinay Darpan (a text of performing arts) by Shri Nanikeshwar ji ‘Yato hasta stato Drishti, Yato Drishti stato Mann, Yato Mann stato Bhaav, Yato Bhaav stato rass’. So, I see inspiration everywhere, because I feel emotions around me. My guru, Smt. Daksha Mashruwala along with all the senior dancers of her coterie Kaishiki Nrityabhasha inspires me to dance better. Regardless of my shortcomings, she helps me keep going, which only brings me closer to my love for dance,” she says.
Dancing is also a stress buster. “Not just dance. I feel every performing arts leads towards the ultimate bliss, nirvana. When you are dancing/performing, you are living in that particular moment, not thinking about anything else, enjoying that very moment, living that emotion and this state of nirvana, is very difficult and very important to attain,” she ends.
