On the eve of World Heart Day, Fortis Hospital Mulund felicitated its pediatric cardiac patients!
The patients, children aged between 6 months – 15 years, were identified during a pediatric cardiac screening camp hosted in #Chandrapur.
On the eve of World Heart Day, Fortis Hospital Mulund felicitated its paediatric cardiac patients, the occasion was graced by Sudhir Mungantiwar, Guardian Minister of Chandrapur, who played a pivotal role in setting up the screening camp for children from underprivileged backgrounds.
Organized today the program witnessed Mr Mungantiwar spending quality time with the 15 children who had come from Chandrapur to seek treatment. He assured them that they were in good hands and will get the needed treatment. These children were selected from a camp organized in Chandrapur under the provision of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) and the initiative was supported by the guardian minister. The health camp was set up earlier this year in June and over 170 children in the age group of 6 months to 15 years were a part of it. The medical team from Fortis Hospital Mulund, who has traveled to Chandrapur, diagnosed 59 children with heart disorders. These children were segregated in groups, first group of 20 children arrived at Fortis Hospital Mulund in August earlier this year and received requisite medical intervention. The second group comprising of 15 children are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Commenting on the initiative Dr. S Narayani, Business Head, Fortis Hospitals, Maharashtra, said, “We at Fortis believe all children deserve a healthy life irrespective of their socio-economic status. Hence, we are taking steps in providing accessible and quality healthcare; through such initiatives we aim to reach underprivileged children and provide them the best treatment possible. I want to thank Mr. Sudhir Mungantiwar and his team for their support in organizing such health camps.” Speaking on getting the needed medical attention, Dr. Dhananjay Malankar, Consultant-Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, Fortis Hospital, Mulund said, “In Maharashtra where we are seeing an increase in the number of patients suffering from heart ailments. It is crucial to identify, diagnose and treat children suffering from cardiovascular diseases, in a timely manner. This will not only result in early recovery but also provide better treatment outcomes. I urge all parents whose children have heart defects, to not be afraid, as a medical intervention at the appropriate time will help resolve the issue. We appreciate that we have provisions like Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, through which underprivileged children get the needed medical assistance at the right time.” On the treatment of these children Dr. Swati Garekar, Consultant-Paediatric Cardiology, Fortis Hospital, Mulund said, “Parents often neglect cardiac care in children until it requires serious medical intervention. The main motive behind the camp is to spread awareness and educate parents about the importance of heart health in children. While our cardiac team is working extensively on this initiative, we have so far treated the first group of 20 children last month. The 15 children who are undergoing treatment at the hospital will soon be able to go to their homes healthy.”
