On the first anniversary of ‘The Kashmir Files’, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri shares letters from the victims!
#VivekRanjanAgnihotri brought tears to the eyes of millions with his film ‘#TheKashmirFiles’. While the film centered around the 1990s exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Indian-administered Kashmir, it showcased the exodus and the events leading up to it as a genocide. Released on 11th march 2022, the film has completed its 1 year, and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri marked this day with letters from the people who actually paved that brutal path that has been shown in the film.
Taking to his social media, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri shared the letters from the families of the Late Girija Tikoo and BK Ganjoo who addressed their healing because of the film. Marking the 1 year of ‘The Kashmir Files’, he jotted down the caption –
“On this #1YearOfTheKashmirFiles I am sharing these letters from the families of Late Girija Tikoo and BK Ganjoo. Nothing in this world is a bigger than when your film starts healing damaged souls. That’s the power of truth, sincerity and humanity. #RightToJustice”

Late Girija Tikoo was one of the victims of the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, who was brutally raped and murdered.
Late BK Ganjoo was also one of the victims of the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, who was brutally shot in a barrel of rice.
‘The Kashmir Files’ left a strong imprint on the mind of the audience as the film showcased many brutal incidents that happen in Kashmir showcasing the atrocity act on the Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s exodus of Kashmiri Hindus. While the film touched the hearts of millions, it also created records at the box office with its massive collection winning immense love and support from the audience and the critics. The film also received an award for Best Film at Dada Saheb Phalke Awards 2023.
