I am a self-taught artist with no formal training and my first participation was in a group show for Birla Academy in Kolkatta in 2001.

Is art hereditary or your personal choice?
Like most Bengali families, the fine arts of music, dance, drama or painting forms an integral part of your life and upbringing. When I was a child, I developed an aptitude for drawing and painting and today it has become my first love and my life itself revolves around the canvas of colors and figures. My grandfather Rabiguha Mazumdar was a musician and had his own school of music known as Tripankha

Did you learn music?
I did learn music but never developed it to become a singer. I love to listen to Begum Akhtar, Ustad Amir Khan and several others.

When and how did you decide to become a professional painter?
I take life as it comes and feel that life is nothing but a game. You plan something but sometimes what happens is entirely different. My natural inclination to paint gave me the confidence that I could become a professional. Moreover I read quite a lot and see what others are doing, in the process I have developed my own individual style.

What is your subject of painting?
Nature inspires me the most and it is the aesthetic quality of life that I try to project in my paintings and hence you would see that my paintings are colorful and vibrant.

How much time do you consume you finish a particular painting?
Normally it takes me three to four months but again it all depends on the level of my involvement and the subject too.

You mentioned that you read a lot. What do you like to read?
I like to read any book on science, literature, fiction, adventure, travel and psychology. I find human psychology the most complex. My exhibition at the Jehangir Art Gallery was entitled Unconsciously Conscious. I do delve on the psyche and different levels of consciousness like conscious or sub-conscious of unconscious. Another exhibition was entitled “Matters of the Mind.”

What inspires you the most?
It is life that is so mysterious and each and every human being has a purpose in life and I believe in what Shakespeare said that the entire world is a stage and all men are merely players. I feel that it is important to contribute to the society to make your life enriching and substantial.

Why do you want to settle in Mumbai?
Mumbai is the city that never sleeps, it is this quality that fascinates me the most and of course the universal quality of Bollywood excites me the most. I am waiting to do more meaningful roles and become known as an actress.

Who are the actors you would like to work with?
Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Varun Dhawan.

Have you acted in Bengali serials or movies?

What disturbs you the most?
I am put off mostly by persons who have evil attitude and are hypocrites.
