Planet Marathi OTT is planning 10 new web series
During Covid 19 pandemic attack people were constrained inside their homes due to imposed multiple lockdowns. Main source of entertainment was television. But since unavailability of fresh entertainment available people turned to digital platforms. In fact web series of different languages were in demand. But as per a report there was a very lesser demand for Marathi web series, maybe due to variety of content. Viewers who prefer Marathi entertainment were complaining about the same and voiced their feelings on social media platforms. Planet Marathi, an OTT platform which is formulated exclusively for Marathi content, floated ‘Planet Marathi OTT’ for Marathi web shows. Recently they announced 10 Marathi web series and special content for children amounting to 850 hours. All these 10 web shows will be directed by noted directors and popular actors from Marathi entertainment world will be part of it. PM OTT is planning to make a few short films as well as innovative and entertaining content for the children is also in the pipeline.
Akshay Bardapurkar, the fore founder of ‘Planet Marathi’, actor Pushkar Shrotri and music composer Aditya Oak’s visionary Marathi-speaking OTT medium is gaining traction in the Marathi entertainment industry. Planet Marathi has started winning the hearts of the audience with a tagline ‘म मानाचा, म मराठीचा’. Mr Bardapurkar, CMD of Planet Marathi OTT, is confident that the content will be available on their platform which will be open to the public from December 2020.

Actor Pushkar Shrotri and music composer Aditya Oak recently announced the Digital Theatre, an important wing of Planet Marathi OTT. He said the decision was in response to the All India Marathi Film Corporation’s call for filmmakers and directors to screen their films online. This will make the producers to tread challenging journey smooth. Now the audience will be able to enjoy the first day first show of the film on the technique of pay-per-view at home. Digital theatre will put less burden on the pockets of producers.
Akshay Bardapurkar has gained experience through the first production and distribution of Planet Marathi is ‘AB and CD’, a film ‘Gosht Eka Paithanichi’ starring Sayali Sanjeev and directed by Shantanu Rode and the upcoming film ‘Chandramukhi’ directed by Prasad Oak. And that’s why producers can take the path of digital theatre as an alternative to the seemingly challenging journey of cinema release In theatres, taking into account the response to the films in the future by viewers, concludes Akshay Badrapurkar.
