Producer Anand Pandit desires to make a film on Gandhian principles
Veteran Producer Anand Pandit who is wrapping up his latest film ‘The Big Bull’, starring Abhishek Bachchan is in an introspective mood on Gandhi Jayanti. He says, “The pandemic has taught us a lot about life and our existence on this planet. It has forced us to confront issues we as a race have been long avoiding. Issues like treating the planet and each other with respect and non-violence. Gandhian values seem more relevant than ever today because our mutual co-existence depends on peace, synergy, and harmony. I know every Indian connects to the Mahatma but being from Gujarat I feel a special connection to him.”
Serendipitously, he has come across a few scripts that reflect these ideals. He says, ” I have always wanted to make a film about Gandhian principles and some scripts have come my way that have interested me enough to take this desire forward. These stories are written by youngsters who filter their experiences very uniquely and the stories are about their world-view from a Gandhian perspective. I think more stories like this will emerge with time because being in the lockdown has made us all look for answers within. I look forward to putting such stories on the big screen. We all know how Munnabhai MBBS made Gandhigiri a unique, relatable concept. I am looking at a story along those lines”
Anand Pandit has had a super successful run at the box office with as many as nine releases under his banner, Anand Pandit Motion Pictures in the past year. These include some of the biggest ones at the box office including Total Dhamal, Satyamev Jayate, PM Narendra Modi, to Batla House, Baazaar, and Section 375.
This year’s circumstances notwithstanding, Anand Pandit is all set with Chehre starring Amitabh Bachchan, and The Big Bull with Abhishek Bachchan.
