Producer Prakash Moolani shares why he backed ‘The Elephant In The Room’!

Producer Prakash Moolani plans to invest in projects that he feels connected with. His latest short film that he co-produced, The Elephant In The Room, is one such narrative. It has been doing well and getting good reviews. He talks about his background, the project and more.

“I am a businessman who grew up in Dubai, but have been living in China since the last 18 years. In terms of business my company Modest Trading Ltd specializes in Global Exports of Apparel, Footwear, and Health products,” he says, before adding when and why he decided to become a producer and be a part of showbiz.

“I have always had an interest in being part of the world of filmmaking. As a matter of fact, I am also a member of the Indian Music Federation and have been actively discussing film collaborations between India and China. However, Nitinn (R Miranni; actor) are childhood friends and when he casually discussed ‘The Elephant In The Room’ with me I loved the idea and immediately agreed to be part of it,” he adds.

The Elephant In The Room is Prakash’s first project as a producer. “Growing up, I remember films being a very important part of my life and one could say they were my best friends. In terms of the kind of project I personally love is comedy because I truly believe that laughter is the best medicine and the world needs much more of it. Having said that, any subject that has a good message and the right intentions to not only entertain but also educate the audience is something that would be my prime focus in the future as well,” he says.

Not just the concept, Prakash also loved the title of the short film. “When Nitinn told me the title “The Elephant in the Room” I simply loved it. And when he explained the relevance of the title to the film it was a perfect match. I have been in many rooms where people refuse to address the elephant and continue like nothing has happened or wrong. It’s tough to do so but it’s imperative for one to address what needs to be. I always say — Let Go=Let Grow,” he adds.

The cast of the short film is interesting and talented. About the thought process that went behind selecting them, he shares, “All the cast selection credit goes to Nitinn and Aarti (Miranni; producer). Having met Daisy personally, I felt she was the perfect fit to play Meher. Also once I chatted with the other cast members I was impressed with the chemistry they already shared and I knew that all that would translate amazingly on screen,” he says.

Ganpati is one of the largest festivals in India. Mumbai is presently celebrating it amid much fanfare. “My family and I celebrate Ganpati Utsav every year, even in China….. Speaking of my relationship with Ganpati, he is my best friend who always has my back… (Like Nitinn),” he says. With Aartie too Prakash shares a special bond. “Aartie is truly a lady with a heart of gold, full of life and always with a smiling face. I was so impressed how she managed everything so well being a first-time producer. She is like a sister to me so we are associated by heart,” he ends.

The short film is streaming on Humaramovie YouTube Channel. It is directed by Krishan Hooda, Presented by Alter Ego Entertainment, produced by Aartie Miranni & Prakash Moolani and the Dialogue and Screenplay is by Neeltarni Pratap. Mantra has given the voice of Ganesha. The Elephant In The Room star cast includes Daisy Shah, Viraf Patell, Nitinn R Miranni, Salonie Patel, Pratiksha Sen, Akanksha Pandey and Sankalp Joshi.
