Radhika Powar paints ‘Embodiment of Goddess Durga’!
Art merges education, entertainment and expression together. It has proved to be a great form of communication over the years. One such art show has provoked a lot of minds to see life through the eyes of the artist. It is being brought to you by artist and environmentalist Ms #RadhikaPowar. Through her canvas paintings, patrons can experience the ‘#EmbodimentOfGoddessDurga’ which is inspired by the Sculptures of Durga, “Mahishasurmardini” (Durga slaying Mahisha), 8th to 13th Century India.
The inauguration of this art show was graced under the delightful presence of some victorious and successful personalities like Senior Author and Artist- Shri Prakash Bal Joshi, renowned politician and art patron Shri Pramod Hindurao and Dr S.N Gajbhiye, the Ex. Chief Scientist CSIR – National Institute of Oceanography. The Solo Art Show features the original work of Acrylics on Canvas by Ms Powar showcasing various art pieces representing the Embodiment of Goddess Durga, Apsaras from Hoysala Dynasty, Gajaatmaka and a Series on Classical Dance which will be featured at Circular Gallery, at Nehru Centre Art Gallery, Mumbai.
When asked Artist Radhika S Powar about how she felt when she got selected for a solo show, and what made her choose ‘Embodiment of Goddess Durga’ as the theme. She mentioned, “Art has always been an integral part of my persona as I truly believe that art has the true potential to leave a mark for generations. I feel honoured to get a chance to showcase some of my work at the Nehru Centre Art Gallery. I have always been in love with India and I truly hope that these art pieces inspire others and give them a peek at our country’s remarkable cultural heritage.”
She added, “Being a woman myself, since childhood the depiction of Goddess Durga as the supreme assimilated form of Shakti, has inspired me to become the person I am today. She has been a true role model to all women through her power, her willingness to eradicate evil and her divine beauty. She has inspired me to stand strong and face my problems and fight for what is right, hence I wanted to honour her through my art, and dedicate my show to her.”
Furthermore, contributions to this event will also be made use of community services. A small donation from the proceeds of this event will be made to ‘Life Save Foundation’ which is an NGO that works for the advancement and upgrading of children who are battling a monstrous disease like cancer. The event witnessed the presence of various eminent personalities like Real estate giants, Reputed builders, Eminent contributors from the science and environment fraternity & other artists. This Solo Art Show will be a 7-day event during which many budding artists, students from renowned Art Schools in Mumbai, and celebrities are also expected to grace the art show.
