Rajeev Surti has choreographed two numbers in ‘Ginny Weds Sunny’
Ace dancer and choreographer Rajeev Surti is all set for his latest film ‘Ginny Weds Sunny’, which releases today. Rajeev choreographed two dance numbers, ‘Phoonk Phoonk Ke’ and ‘Rubaru’ for Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey in the film which are sure to get you grooving with its catchy lyrics and zingy music.
While talking about Rajeev’s experiences on the same, he said, “This film is like a reunion for me. I got the call to work on this project from the producer Vinod Bachchan, with whom I have worked before and actor Isha Talwar was also cast in the film who’s a decade friend of mine. The amazing part is I know the director Puneet from my first film ‘Don’. It was also his first film as an assistant director, so it’s a long association with him as well. My dance number Phoonk Phoonk ke was his first song, first frame, he shot with me for his first film as a director, so we both were very happy.”
‘Rubaru’ and ‘Phoonk Phoonk Ke’ are very different songs that Rajeev have choreographed in the film. One is a beautiful love ballad which shows the chemistry between the lead characters Yami & Vikrant. Since ‘Phoonk Phoonk Ke’ is a very fast paced routine, it took a few days to perfect the dance parts, mentioned the talented choreographer. “We shot the dancing sequence in one shot with Yami, and I remember she is such a perfectionist that at one point I had to ask Yami to stop rehearsing and take rest. Vikrant and Yami both were extremely hard working and it was an amazing experience to work with both of them.”
From being a complete outsider in the big world of Bollywood to finding his feet as one of the few risk-taking dancers and choreographers, Rajeev Surti has come a long way in his decade-old career in the Hindi film industry. He has worked for more than 50 films like Don, Golmaal 3, Raees, Freaky Ali, Tumhari Sulu and many more. He has choreographed celebrities like Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and many many more and also judged dancing shows like Dance India Dance.
