Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sridevi’s ‘16 Vayathinile’ digitally restored

The Telugu version of Sridevi, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan starrer, 16 Yayanthinile, has now been titled Neekosam Nireekshana and been digitally restored. Restored in cinemascope with latest audio enhancements and new songs added, the film will soon release exclusively online in five different languages.

Directed by Bharathi Raja, Neekosam Nireekshana was considered an ‘experimental film’ when it released. The film had a commercially successful run for 175 days in Tamil and won numerous awards for everyone involved. It was also remade in Telugu as Padaharella Vayasu by K Raghavendra Rao in 1978 and in Hindi as Solva Sawan in 1979 by Bharathi Raja.

16 Yayanthinile’s music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja, Padaharella Vayasu’s by K Chakravarthy and Solva Sawan’s music was composed by Jaidev. Now, the new songs added to the Telugu restored version Neekosam Nireekshana will have music composed by KK.

Neekosam Nireekshana tells the story of a 16-year-old who harbours big dreams of becoming a teacher. However, her life changes completely due to three men in her life.
