Randhir Kapoor says, ‘Ravinder Jain is one of the most talented and under-rated music directors of all time’!
Celebrating, honoring and welcoming the evergreen actor *#RandhirKapoor, #SonyEntertainmentTelevision’s #IndianIdolSeason12* has put together a specially themed episode called ‘Randhir Kapoor Special’ episode for the legend this weekend. The top 6 contestants will be seen singing Randhir Kapoor’s hits songs. The talented Arunita Kanjilal performs on not one or two but three of his films songs namely ‘Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua’, ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ and ‘Ek Radha Ek Meera’. After her performance, Randhir Kapoor who applauds her performance also shares the story behind the song ‘Ek Radha Ek Meera’.
Taking a trip down memory lane and sharing some interesting trivia about the song ‘Ek Radha Ek Meera’, *Randhir Kapoor* says, “My father, the late Raj Kapoor Saab and I had visited Delhi for someone’s wedding and Ravinder Jain ji was singing there. My father was seated in the front row while I was sitting right behind him. Ravinder Jain Ji was singing the song ‘Ek Radha Ek Meera’ and Raj Kapoor Saab really liked it so much that he requested him to sing it once more. An excited Ravinder ji sang the song once again, with full excitement. After his performance, my father asked him which film was the song from to which, Ravinder ji said that it was not from any film but his own song. That is when my father asked him if he could give this song to him to which Ravinder Ji readily agreed and is when my father said that from today, this song is mine.”
He also narrated how later, Raj Kapoor invited Ravinder Jain Ji along with a couple of his friends at Randhir’s house just to ensure that Babita listens to the song (Ek Radha Ek Meera) and gives her approval as well. He also added that how the very next day, when he visited the studio, he got to know that Raj Kapoor Saab and Ravinder Jain ji had gone to a farm house in Pune and in 5 days he (Ravinder Jain) returned with all 7 songs along with the lyrics. He said, “That man (Ravinder Jain) is one of the most talented and under-rated music directors of all time. All the songs were recorded and in a week’s time the shooting started. The whole picture (Ram Teri Ganga Maili) revolves around that song.”
Randhir Kapoor will be seen sharing some great stories and anecdotes while enjoying the performances put forth by the Top 6 contestants. The host Aditya Narayan along with the judges Anu Malik, Sonu Kakkar and Himesh Reshammiya will sit tight and enjoy the company of the special guest – Randhir Kapoor.
