Review : Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga : Swashbuckling performance by Yami Gautam Dhar in this hijack drama!
There are quite a few films getting commissioned releases on OTT. #ChorNikalKeBhaga is exclusively made for a digital platform and on second thoughts it should have been released on the big screen as it could have garnered a lot of audience support at the theatres. Having said that the film is cleverly written but there should have been a lot more ‘gongs’ to make it mote interesting. But not taking anything away from the makers it’s a well made movie which offers thrills coupled with entertainment. CNKB has hijack drama coupled with a love story laced with robbery.
Neha Grover (Yami Gautam Dhar) is an air hostess and one of the business class passengers Ankit Sethi (Sunny Kaushal) tries to woo her during the flight. Undeterred she avoids him with a trained smile but he keeps stalking her till she falls for this diamond merchant. They fall in love and when they are ready to embrace parenthood, Neha comes to know about Ankit’s ₹20 Cr debt. To pay it off he is compelled to rob diamonds mid air and after initial hesitancy Neha agrees to go along. They board a flight, Ankit as a passenger and Neha as an air stewardess. When their plan is about to come to fruition, the plane gets hijacked and they are into double trouble. How things go after hijack forms the crux of the narration.
Amar Kaushik and Shiraj Ahmad’s writing is good and the twist in the proceedings is superb. Usually where most of the movie ends, here the actual mystery starts in the second half. The hijack part gets over by the end of the first half and later mystical proceedings start. Director Ajay Singh (earlier assistant to Raj Kumar Gupta during Aamir) has kept the proceeding taut and pacy. He has demarcated the film in two parts, before and after hijack. The music (one song) is okay and the background score adds additional flavour to the plot. The movie scores heavily in the acting department. Yami Gautam Dhar has done a superb job as Neha. In recent times she has been dishing out fabulous performances in films like, Lost, Dasvi, A Thursday etc and she goes a step further with Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga. She has perfectly executed the 360 degrees character graph in the film. She looks pretty and gives a swashbuckling performance. She successfully carries the film on her dainty shoulders. Sunny Kaushal does complete justice to the two faced character and is convincing in every frame. Sharad Kelkar as Parvez Shaikh, a RAW officer is good but his role required much more detailed writing. Same goes for Indraneel Sengupta.
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga keeps viewers intrigued and brilliant performances add to the entertainment quotient.
