Crazxy

Review: Crazxy – Sohum Shah’s Spectacular Solo Act in a Riveting Thriller

Back in 1964, the legendary #SunilDutt experimented with a one-character film in #Yaadein, a cinematic feat that remains unparalleled for decades. Now, after years of waiting for another such audacious experiment, #SohumShahFilms presents Crazxy—a gripping psychological thriller that places the entire weight of storytelling on the shoulders of one man, and what a phenomenal performance he delivers!

At the heart of Crazxy lies Dr. Abhimanyu Sood (Sohum Shah), a man burdened by a life-altering dilemma. The film opens with him driving through the day, a staggering ₹5 crores in his car—a settlement to keep a grieving family from suing him for medical negligence after their son dies on the operating table. But fate throws him a cruel twist: a chilling phone call informs him that his daughter, Vedica—who has Down syndrome—has been kidnapped, and the ransom? ₹5 crores.

#Abhimanyu is torn between two ruthless forces—his ex-wife Bobby, demanding the money for the kidnappers, and the hospital surgeon, pressuring him to hand over the money for an out-of-court settlement. Additionally his current love interest advises him to not give it to both. What follows is a relentless psychological storm, a battle of survival against time, morality, and emotions, making Crazxy an edge-of-the-seat experience.

Much like action films glorify a “one-man army” taking down adversaries, Crazxy transforms Sohum Shah into an army of emotions—grief, fear, helplessness, and resilience—all executed with breathtaking precision. His performance is nothing short of a masterclass, captivating the audience every second of the film’s taut 93-minute runtime. Shah seamlessly navigates the character’s psyche, making his internal struggles palpable and his dilemmas deeply affecting.

Writer-director #GirishKohli crafts an airtight screenplay that never loosens its grip on the viewer. The narrative is woven with impeccable twists and razor-sharp turns, ensuring the audience remains glued to the screen. Every scene crackles with tension, and the precision in storytelling is enhanced by razor-sharp editing, making Crazxy a cinematic rollercoaster.

The film’s music plays a vital role in elevating its emotional depth. Papa, a soul-stirring track penned by the legendary #Gulzar and composed by #VishalBhardwaj, is an emotional high point, adding layers to the protagonist’s turmoil. The background score intensifies the tension without ever overshadowing the narrative.

Crazxy is an audacious, exhilarating, and emotionally charged thriller that pushes the boundaries of storytelling. A must-watch cinematic experience!
