Review : Fukrey 3 : Unable to tickle your funny bone!
#Bollywood is dishing out sequel after sequel. Barring a few exceptions most of them have landed flat on their face. Recently released third chapter of #Fukrey too will join that list. Comedy is the toughest genre and to make people laugh is most difficult. One or two one-liners can’t help the film. These days smart comedy is order of the day and run of the mill gags don’t work. #Fukrey3 deals in Pee, Poop, and Sweat. Audience with low IQ may find it funny but frankly the kind of gags or jokes (supposedly) are outdated and garish. To sound intelligent, the writer, director has incorporated a social message but overall the ‘everything’ bizarre mars the movie.
The four Fukreys Honey (Pulkit Samrat), Choocha (Varun Sharma), Lali (Manjot Singh) and Pandit ji (Pankaj Tripathi) are back with their stupidity galore. Bholi Punjaban (Richa Chadha) is contesting election and these Fukreys are helping her garnering people’s support. But inadvertently Choricha gets more publicity and people start calling him their Neta. So other Fukras field him against Bholi Punjaban. She lures them with a fake business offer in South Africa to keep them away from the political scenario so that she can win the election without any opposition. In SA they realise the Bholi’s and escape from a diamond mine. Choocha gulps a huge diamond and after electrocution in an amusement park, Choocha and Honey discovers that their piss and sweat together makes petrol. They return to Delhi and starts minting money much to the resentment of Bholi Punjaban. Then after innumerable’funny’ incidents film comes to an ends hinting at it’s fourth part, probably with the inclusion of Ali Fazal.
The might have looked convincing on paper but on screen it looks bizarre. The screenplay is patchy and the dialogues are mostly below the belt. The message thrown in about conservation of water is notable but conceited presentation soils the game. The director looks confused as to what genre he is dealing with, slap stick comedy? adventure or science fiction? or political thriller.? In the bargain it is mixed of everything but less entertaining. Music is passable and technical departments excels (as all films are equally good in that department). Pulkit Samrat displays his chiseled physique most of the time and looks lost as the F story revolves around Choocha most of the time. But he has given a decent performance. Varun Sharma overacts and his lines don’t evoke laughter. Manjot Singh does well in his limited screen time and Pankaj Tripathi knows how to grab attention without uttering a word. He is good and Richa Chhada too do justice to her role.
Fukrey 3 tries hard to entertain but fails miserably as it is unable to tickle your funny bone.
