Review : Gin Ke Dus : Whodunit thriller!
Veiwers who like suspense thrillers, tend to turn to #OTT content as there are many whodunit thrillers available. #GinKeDus, which has released in theatres, is a psychological thriller which has, as the title suggests, 10 killings. Who does it and why is the question answered during the climax of the film. Gin Ke Dus has multiple twists and turns which adds to the thrill quotient of the film.
The story of Gin Ke Dus happens in the nineties. The film starts with a couple of corpses being buried in a remote place somewhere in jungle. Three friends arrive there to help a friend, Shaili (Trishna Goswami) whose sister is in a troubled marriage. Her husband (Avinash Gupta) is an alcoholic, abusive and violent. The household Raju (Zahid Khan) takes them around this isolated old bungalow. The ‘detective’ type friend tries to find out more about the prevailing situation which gets dangerous as the hour pass by. There are multiple murders taking place and the group of friends come face to face with him whose identity is kept hidden. What transpires later and in between forms the crux of the story.
The story of Gin Ke Dus has kept the identity of the antagonist secret for the most part of the movie. When it is revealed, the logic offered for his killings doesn’t hold ground. The screenplay is okay and the film manages to thrill in bits and parts. Director Sareesh Sudhakaran has managed to put intrigue in proceedings. The mindless killings do not arouse sympathy. The homicides do not create panic in viewer’s minds. The production values should have been better but the cinematography is good. Even the background score is passable. The film is full of new actors and none of them shine. But they have delivered not too bad performances.
Gin Ke Dus is a psychological thriller which fails to scare.
