Review : Ishq Vishq Rebound : Modern love story, friendship to romance!
In the era of sequels lands another one. About two decades back a young love triangle story was presented in Ishq Vishq in which #ShahidKapoor had debuted. Now the film gets a sequel, Ishq Vishq Rebound, in which #HrithikRoshan’s cousin #PashminaRoshan makes a debut. There’s a lot of confusions, complications and complexities in the characters and it talks about #GenZ’s way of handling emotional situations. Ishq Vishq Rebound deals with ‘Rebound’ theory of today’s young generation’s romance.
Raghav (Rohit Saraf), Sanya (Pashmina Roshan) and Sahir (Jibraan Khan) are childhood friends and Sanya and Sahir become a couple. Raghav loves writing scripts and he is always with them. One of his short plays gets award and he gets a big offer to write a film script by a producer (Kusha Kapila). Meanwhile he meets Riya (Naila Grewal) and both start dating. Here, dye to demanding nature of Sanya, Sahir breaks up with her and because Raghav gives more attention to Sanya, who is nursing a broken heart, Riya breaks up with him. Raghav and Sanya spend a lot of time together and start liking each other as lovers. But Sahil desires to get back to Sanya and Riya too wants Raghav back in her life. What transpires around this confusion forms the crux of the story.
The story will be appealing to the youngsters as it is directed at their complexities. It’s clean with no physical fights or presence of any villainous character. Despite lacunas in the writing, director Nipun Dharmadhikari has managed to keep the proceedings interesting. His last film “Mi Vasantrao” was a National Ward winning Marathi film. His directorial touch is visible throughout the film. He also has managed to extract good performances from his lead actors. Production values are high and beauty of a hill station is captured esthetically. Music is good but doesn’t match the first Ishq Vishq. The first half of the film is interesting but the second half is a bit jumbled up.
Rohit Saraf is the backbone of the film and carries the film on his shoulders. He is the narrator too of the proceedings and that’s a plus direction wise. Rohit’s dancing is worth mentioning. Debutant Pashmina Roshan has done a decent job. She has a spark and with practice she can hone her craft. Jibraan Khan shows promise and has done excellent job of the opportunity given. He has acted and danced well. Naila Grewal impresses in a limited screen space. Others, including Supriya Pilgaonkar and Kusha Kapila, lend good support.
Ishq Vishq Rebound is a modern day love story which covers the path from friendship to romance.
