Review : “Kahaani Rubberband Ki” : Humourous take on ‘Condom’ and sex education!
#India ‘s population grown is next to #China and it is predicted that, if we do not take population control measures, we may surpass China’s population in the next 25-30 years. For population control one of the major tools is Condom. But the myths around it has created confusion amongst people. In fact it is considered derogative if one openly asks for a condom. There has been quite a few awareness programmes around the topic but since sex is considered ‘sin’ in our country all the efforts go down the drain. Although many films have been made in #Bollywood on sex education and condoms, director Sarika Sanjot’s social comedy film “#KahaniRubberbandKi” released this week talk about the subject on hand very subtly but effectively. The story is quite different story in many ways. The way #SarikaSanjot has presented a serious subject in a light-hearted manner, it is worth watching for the entire family.
The story is about newlyweds — Akash Chaudhary (Manish Raisinghan) and Kavya Patel (Avika Gor). Kavya becomes pregnant despite using protection, and their lives and future plans are shattered. In spite of Aakash using condoms, Kavya gets pregnant. This leads to suspicion in Aakash’s mind that she has probably been impregnated by her very close friend, Rohan (Romil Chaudhary).
Disgusted Kavya returns to her maternal home when Aakash accuses her of infidelity. However, Aakash realises one day that his condom must’ve been faulty, because of which it may not have served its purpose of avoiding pregnancy. That’s when Aakash drags the condom manufacturing company to court. What separates this film from the others is that Akash files a complaint against the Condom manufacturer not just to protect his relationship with Kavya but also to promote public awareness.
Sarika Sanjot’s film gives an important message with entertainment and comedy. Sarika Sanjot’s writing and direction is effective. Music by Meet Brothers and Anup Bhat is excellent. Farooq Mistry’s cinematography is of a high standard. The editing of the film has been done by Sanjay Sankla.
Talking about the performance in this film made under the banner of Moon House Productions, Pratik Gandhi has aced his character Nanno, who is Manish’s friend. Manish and Avika Gor’s chemistry on screen is excellent. Aruna Irani’s shines as a lawyer. Rest of the cast lend good support.
Kahani Rubberband Ki imparts a social message, which is extremely important as far as the entire country is concerned, but in a light hearted way.
It also spreads awareness about sex education and condom use while offering clean entertainment.
