Review : Madgaon Express : Laugh-Riot!

‘Comedy is a serious business’ is often told and it’s true too. Making people laugh is the most difficult thing and a very few are successful in that. #Actor #KunalKhemmu is known for his impeccable comedic timing and his hilarious roles in multiple movies. He translates all that in his directorial debut ‘#MadgaonExpress’. The movie is extremely hilarious and a laugh-riot. It must one the most entertaining movies in the recent times. The clean humour, laugh-a-minute situations and the uproarious dialogues are the USP of this film and it entertains throughly. #ExcelEntertainent, the producers, have earlier offered viewers friendship films like, #DilChahataHai, #ZindagiNaMilegiDobara, #Fukrey etc and now they have a film on hand which is prefect to turn out into a franchise. Madgaon Express notifies in the end that next escapades of friendship will take place in Las Vegas, US of A. ‘Madgaon Express’ is smashing directorial debut of Kunal Khemmu, for sure.

Dodo (Divyenndu), Aayush (Avinash Tiwary) and Pratik (Pratik Gandhi) are childhood friends who always dreamt of visiting Goa together since school days but couldn’t. Now Aayush stays in the US and Pratik in South Africa. Dodo is still unemployed and stays in a chawl. Aayush and Pratik come down to visit India and want to stay with Dodo (He had projected himself as a millionaire to them). Instead Dodo takes them to Goa by Madgaon Express on the pretext of reliving their childhood-adolescent days. Once in Goa they get entangled in situations where cocaine, drug lords, police and underworld is involved. They try to wriggle out but get entwined is strange and dangerous situations. What transpires during and after that forms the crux of the story.

The story, screenplay and dialogues too are written by Kunal Khemmu who has borne the mantle of direction. He has done a marvelous job in all the departments and the film comes out winner. The situations are funny and never look forced. Kunal uses all types of comedy genres to make the film hilarious and entertaining. The dialogues take the cake as there is non stop laughter in the theatre throughout. Each of the character is justified and given sufficient screen time to shine. Madgaon Express proves once again that good script is the star of a movie. Without any star names Kunal takes you on a roller coaster ride through his ‘train’.

All the actors, including supporting cast, have done exceedingly well. Duvyendu did start his career with comic films but his stint in Mirzapur too was appreciated. He plays on his home pitch and presents Dodo, the mischievous of the lot, with elan. Viewers will love his antics. Pratik Gandhi usually known for serious portrayals will surprise everyone with his comic timing. He has played his contrasting two layered character with ease and has excelled in both the avatars. Avinash Tiwari, though having a lesser funny character, plays his role effectively and collects his share of laughs. He has an impressive screen presence and comes out as a natural actor. These three actors prove that only stardom can not pull audiences to the theatres. They definitely are going to get better offers now. Nora Fatehi looks gorgeous and offers glamour quotient to the film. Chhaya Kadam, Upendra Limaye, Remo D’Souza and others offer excellent support.

Madgaon Express is a laugh riot and an extremely entertaining film.
