Review : ‘Mera Vyah Kara Do’ entertains with a social message!
In indian society marriage is an important aspect for the entire family, especially parents. In most cases parents pressurise children, especially girls, the moment they are grown up to get married. The similar factor has been witnessed in many Bollywood movies too. A brand new Punjabi film ‘Mera Vyah Kara Do’ too has a similar situation where the mother of a girl wants her daughter to get married. The film focuses on the family values and respecting parents and without being loud brings the subject around in an entertaining fashion. Director Sunil Khosla has managed to infuse right dose of laughter in the narration and has handled the entire cast with finesse.
Noor (Mandy Takhar) is a bubbly young girl whose ‘Mother India’ wants her to get married as soon as possible. Noor works at Sara Jewellers and is good at her job. Her mother, who is a single parent, now consults an astrologer with the help of her sister to know about the prospects of marriage in her daughter’s life. On insistence of her mother Noor registers her biodata on ‘Vyahdi.com’ but doesn’t get any requests for quite some time. To counter that she posts some sensuous photos is modern clothes and suddenly a lot of guys get interested in her who want to get married to her. In the meanwhile Ekam (Dilpreet Dhillon) who is a rich guy comes to Noor’s shop to buy ornaments for his fiancée. But as the girl is against his parents living with them after marriage he breaks up with her. The destiny brings Noor closer to Ekam and both of them start liking each other. Earlier Noor has been threatened by a Don, whose son wants to get married to Noor, and has been given three months to think it over. To shrug out of their clutches Noor has very limited time to get married as per choice. But Ekam is undecided who keeps telling her ‘Let me think’ which annoys her no end. Finally she decides to get married and four unwanted grooms bring their ‘Baraats’ to her house. What transpires later and in-between has been divulged in the movie.
‘Mera Vyah Kara Do’ does well on the content part but the screenplay could have been tighter. The dialogues are good and the punch lines are well placed which collect laughters. The climax could have handled a bit better featuring the lead couple. The cake-fight does bring laughs and even the horses seem to love it. Director Sunil Khosla has managed his wares expertly. The camera angles are well etched out. Music is good and adds to the entertainment quotient of the film. In acting department Mandy Takhar has done a fabulous job and carries the film on her shoulders successfully. Her screen presence is fantastic and she has acted beautifully and showcases variety of emotions. Dilpreet Dhillon is good and ‘Mother India’ scores with her endearing portrayal.
Punjabi film ‘Mera Vyah Kara Do’ is quite entertaining and definitely is a one time watch.
