Review : Mission Grey House: A Moderately Entertaining Suspense Thriller
Bollywood has come a long way from portraying the police force as slow responders who arrived only after the hero resolved the case. Recent years have seen a shift, with films showcasing the heroics of law enforcement. Mission Grey House adds to this trend, presenting a suspense thriller directed by #NaushadSiddique, who introduces two newcomers, #AbeerKhan and #PujaSharma, in pivotal roles.
The story revolves around Kabir Rathod (Abeer Khan), a young man driven by his dream of becoming a police officer. His girlfriend, Kiara (Puja Sharma), the daughter of an IG of Police (Rajesh Sharma), wholeheartedly supports his aspirations. When the IG learns about Kabir’s ambitions, he decides to test him by assigning him a challenging task: to unearth the mystery behind a serial killer linked to Grey House, a bungalow owned by the IG’s friend Vikrant (Kiran Kumar). Kabir accepts the mission, and what unfolds forms the crux of the film.
While the story idea may lack maturity, the screenplay attempts to maintain logical coherence. Naushad Siddique succeeds in crafting moments of suspense, with the thrills being reasonably well-executed. The background score aids the narrative, though the film suffers from limited production values, which could have been significantly improved. Newcomers Abeer Khan and Puja Sharma bring enthusiasm to their roles but can’t completely mask their inexperience. Abeer’s action sequences are impressive, and the romantic chemistry between the lead pair is endearing. Veteran actors like Kiran Kumar, Rajesh Sharma, Raza Murad, and Nikhat Khan (Aamir Khan’s sister) lend depth to the film, adding much-needed gravitas to the proceedings.
Despite its flaws, Mission Grey House manages to provide moderate entertainment with its suspenseful narrative and honest performances which may be liked by the fans of suspense thrillers and cop dramas.
