Review : Pind Daan : Engrossing Short Film with a Big Heart!

In modern times there has been an awareness around, sexual abuse and even marital rape. In recent times, short films have been making impact with socially relevant issues and a new short film, Pind Daan, does the same. It tackles sexual abuse of children to the fore and it’s impactful narrative grips your attention.

Shiv Pandit (Aadil Sultanpuri) is a police officer in Nashik. Well built and handsome Shiv is on anti depressant drugs who has a dark childhood connection. His Mama (Yatin Karyekar) used to be a noted dancer of his times referred to as a King of Dance. He used to insist that Shiv pursue dancing but takes advantage by sexually abusing him, which devastates Shiv mentally. Later he tries to help a destitute woman saving her from her drunkard husband. Shiv’s sister is about to deliver and at the same time their Mana is on a deathbed. The intricacies of the multiple situations forms the crux of the narration.

The story does not have novelty but the screenplay and direction stand out to make Pind Daan an engrossing watch. The technical sides could have been better and the background score should have been less noisy. Cinematography is good and so is editing. Aadil Sultanpuri has done a good job and brings the vulnerability of the character authentically on screen. Yatin Karyekar is excellent in a negative role. Others lend good support.

Pind Daan is an engrossing Short Film with a Big Heart.
