Review : Raundal : Realistic action drama laced with romance!

In #Indianpolitics, since Independence, the common man is oppressed by the politicians. Actually the politicians are supposed to be servants of people but they treat the common man with contempt. A person who can’t meet two ends becomes a crorepati within a few years after getting elected to power. It’s ironical but true even today. The persons who are supposed to be servants seems to be leading a life of kings and in the process the common man has no one to look up to. The rural area is the most affected due to lack of education and non unity. #Raundal is a story of a farmer who knows how to grow agricultural produce but finds it difficult to sell it and how the people in power play with the lives of poor.

Shiva (Bhausaheb Shinde) is an energetic young guy who dreams of serving his country by joining armed forces. But during the tests he unfortunately gets injured and couldn’t get selected. He is dejected but his grandfather Pandurang Jadhav (Sanjay Lakde) tells him that he can serve nation by being a farmer too. Shiva starts taking interest in farming but his righteousness becomes his flaw. Having rubbed an agricultural middle man on the wrong side his father is humiliated and the sugar factory refuses to buy sugarcane from him. Angered Shiva attacks the factory’s owner Bittu Sheth (Yashraj Dimbale) who is the main trouble maker. But his father Annasaheb (Shivraj Walvekar) uses his political clout and gets Shiva arrested. The treatment meted out to him by the police and the politicians hardens his stand against corrupt people. He revolts and what happens next forms the crux of the story.

Similar stories are seen in quite a few films but the presentation here is new and fresh. The action never goes over the top and has been shot realistically. The screenplay is a bit stretched and should have been trimmed a bit. The director Gajanan Nana Padol, who also is the writer of the film, should have avoided the lengthy narrative style. The first half is full of romance, which is like a breath of fresh air, but he should have approached the main aspect of the story much sooner. Music is very good and the songs picturisation too is good. Action is the heart of the film, as the title suggests, and is equally good and realistic. Bhausaheb Shinde is excellent in Shiva’s role and his controlled anger plays in his favour. He is at ease in action scenes as well as romantic scenes. He is well supported by a newcomer Neha Sonawane, She moves on the screen like a veteran and does justice to her character which is madly in love with Shiva. Ganesh Deshmukh as Gulabrao, Shiva’s Father, Sanjay Lakde as Pandurang, Shiva’s Grandfather, Surekha Dimbale as Shashikala, Shiva’s Mother, Yashraj Dimbale as Bittu Sheth, Shivraj Walvekar as Vikram Anna, Bittu’s Father, Balasaheb Shinde as MD Vishal, Vinayak Pawar as Sarpanch, Ganpat More, Sagar Lokhande as Shiva’s Friend Tiramak, Gajanan Padol as Patrakar Sachin Gaike lend good support.

Raundal successfully focusses on the the oppression of a common man by the political fraternity and is a realistic action drama laced with romance.
