Review : Rocking Star Yash entertains as a ‘Hatoda Man’ : KGF Chapter 2!

#KolarGoldFields #KGFChapter1, was a sleeper hit of 2018 and it’s title indicated it’s sequel was on the way. The Pandemic disturbed many release calendars of films including #KGFChapter2. The hype created by this sequel has resulted into fabulous advance booking for the film and it’s expected to rake in huge monies over a long extended weekend. The story of KGF 2 is mounted on well choreographed action but despite a heroine #Reena (#SrinidhiShetty) around the romantic track between Rocky and Reena doesn’t get uplifted in the screenplay. Director #PrashantNeel has tried to mount it on big scale and he’s successful in that. Majority of southern films rely on larger than life images, characters, action etc and this film too is no exception.

In the first chapter of KGF, journo Anand Ingakagi (Anant Nag), author of El Dorado, narrated the story and happenings of Kolar Gold Fields stating how a simpleton Raja Krishnappa Bariya rose to become a powerful Rocky Bhai who assassinates Garuda. The first part ended on the death of Garuda and second part picks up from there itself. This time the story is narrated by Anand Ingakagi’s son Vijayendra Ingakagi (Prakash Raj). Rocky bhai takes charge of Kolar Gold Fields and orders to extract gold from all the eight mines. He even stops the export of gold and starts hoarding it. This irks Guru Pandian, Andrews, Rajendra Desai and Kamal who employees services of ruthless Adheera (Sanjay Dutt) to finish Rocky. Adheera invades highly guarded KGF and even shoots a bullet in the chest of Rocky but surprisingly doesn’t ensure his death. And how Rocky fights all these villains including PM Rasika Sen (Raveena Tandon) is the crux of the narrative.

The screenplay is devoid of logic number of times and relies on hard core action. Like mentioned earlier, though it tries to portray Rocky’s emotional side, it fails to infuse romance in the proceedings. The helicopter used as a ‘Pankha’ for his lady love is quite romantic. Who have seen the first part will be aware of the characters and couple of new entrants make their presence felt without interrupting the pace of the screenplay. KGF Chapter 2’s dialogues are ‘seeti mar’ but in the process the film becomes verbose. He director has tried to bring back the heroism on big screen and has somewhat accomplished that. Music is passable but the background score is deafeningly noisy. The reason is well known to the director. The ‘colouring’ of the film could have been better.

Rocking star Yash dazzles as ruthless, raw Rocky and his fans will love his avatar. He delivers a punching performance and his dialogues reminds one of 90’s films which thrived on ‘dialougebazi’. But his humorous side, which is prevalent in the first half, vanishes after a few scenes which is painful as a viewer. But his ‘Hatoda Man’ is impressive enough. Srinidhi Shetty has nothing much to do than look good and her screen presence is pleasant. Sanjay Dutt, though having limited screen time, tries his best to look the character and raveena impresses in a smaller role. Others lend goos support.

KGF Chapter 2 has beautifully choreographed action and Yash’s swag which may please his fans.
