Review : Shirtless Tiger Shroff’s high flying action can’t salvage ‘Heropanti 2’!
In recent times movies from down south are getting more love than bollywood films. South films project ‘hero’ in a larger than life manner but in a novel way. ‘#Pushpa’ and ‘#KGF2’ prove this point as they were big grossers of this year. Talking of ‘Hero’ and ‘#Heropanti’ after ‘#Baaghi2 & 3’, director-actor jodi, Ahmed Khan-Tiger shroff join hands for ‘Heropanti 2’. With ‘Heropanti’ Tiger Shroff debuted in Hindi films which was a runaway success. Frankly there’s no real plot in ‘Heropanti 2’. It looks like that the actions and songs were ready and a story is woven around it. No doubt the Hero Tiger Shroff does carry off the actions pretty smoothly but it ends there. His dancing skills too are used in the film but that too doesn’t save the film. Frankly this sequel doesn’t take the first part’s story further. It’s a new script (?) and could’ve easily been passed as ‘Baaghi 4’. Tiger Shroff should be careful about selection of scripts and director, otherwise it’ll be doomsday for him pretty soon.
Babloo Ranawat (Tiger Shroff) is a genius hacker and is leading a camouflaged life with his mother (Amrita Singh) in England but somehow the villains find out his hideout. For her son’s safety, though she too is unaware of what her son actually upto, she travels to Varanasi, India. The script here giver Babloo a freehand to have combative fights. His lady love Inaaya (Tara Sutaria)is supposed to be a gaming billionaire and is looking for her Babloo. They meet, kiss and dance at exotic places. In between, Laila (Nawazuddin Siqqiqui), an effeminate villain of the film, brother of Inaaya, is readying to hack majority of Indian bank accounts. Indian Investing agency hires Babloo to counter that but lands in Laila’s trap. After a few dance numbers and beautifully choreographed action scenes Babloo emerges a winner, obviously.
The script is terrible, lacks logic. The screenplay mainly depends on Tiger Shroff’s high octane action scenes and dancing prowess. Some of the dialogues are ‘seeti-maar’ but at times are below the belt. The director should understand that filming at exotic foreign locations like, England, Russia, Thailand, Abu Dhabi and parading shirtless chiseled body of Tiger and scantily clad Tara Sutaria will not save the film. Any film requires a script and that too a good one. Anyways, Tiger’s top-notch action and fab dancing are a treat to watch but it doesn’t save the film. The film has A R Rahman’s music, fantastic cinematography, beautifully choreographed action and high production values but nothing amalgamates. The film does offer little bit of everything i.e. action, drama, music, romance.
Tiger shroff’s smouldering intensity and high flying action look good on screen. The action and dancing suit his personality. His chiseled body will please his female fans. Tara Sutaria tries to up the glamour quotient with her skimpy dresses. Though Tiger and Tara look good together, the chemistry between them is lacking. The only saving grace is Nawazudddin Siddiqui. He has aced the role of an effeminate (not gay) villain and delivers a smashing performance without indulging in any hand combats with the protagonist. Amrita Singh is good.
In ‘Heropanti 2’, Tiger Shroff’s high flying action and dancing skills will be liked by his fans.
