Review : Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ : Falling in love with a Robot!
As the world is progressing with technology advancements, Robots are supposed to be the future. Robot, described as an artificial person, is used by many industries abroad to do chores which are done by humans. A significant research has been happening in the field of Robotics and scientists are trying to make them feel the human emotions too. But is it possible for a Robot to fall in love with human or vice versa? The same idea has been used in a film ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’. It’s a scientific love story which holds it’s ground and moderately entertains.
Aryan Agnihotri (Shahid Kapoor) is a successful software engineer who specializes in Robotics. His aunt (Dikple Kapadia) makes Robots in an US company and Aryan goes to visit her there where she introduces him to her secretary Sifra (Kriti Sanon). Aryan and Kriti spends time together and he finds her to be a perfect material for marriage. Aryan develop strong feelings for Sifra and after an romantic evening they end up in bed. The next day he finds out that Sifra actually is a Robot and not human. He nurses a broken heart and returns to India but he can’t get over ‘perfect’ Sifra. He even runs away from his impending engagement. He request his aunt to send Sifra to India on the pretext of additional research in the Indian surroundings. Actually his intention is to marry her. What transpires next and in between form the crux of the story.
‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ (TBMAUJ), has a good concept but it falters in scripting. It raises pertinent questions around AI technology and love. Though the screenplay has adequate ‘gongs’ to surprise the viewers, the film doesn’t fly high. Why Aryan falls madly in love with Sifra is not justifiably explained. The comic portions should have been more laugh provoking. The modern day lingo will appeal to the youth. The production values are high and the cinematography (Laxman Utekar, one of the producers too) is outstanding. Music is good and Laal Pili Ankhiya stands out. The title song which is a remake of a song by Raghav is choreographed outstandingly. The remix too is excellent.
Shahid Kapoor has delivered a decent performance and excels in emotional sequences. His comic timing seems to have gone on a picnic. Also the dialogues do not support him much. Kriti Sanon has given a nicer performance. As a Robot she has done justice to her character, especially towards the end. Shahid and Kriti’s dance number ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ is not to be missed number which comes during the end credits. Dharmendra’s cameo is okay as the writer and director haven’t been able to tap his potential. Other actors are passable.
Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is a decently made scientic love story and is a one time watch.
