Review: The Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes : Visually Appealing!
#TheKingdomOfThePlanetOfTheApes is the latest addition to the ‘#Apes’ franchise which a visual treat and the story revolves around a new ‘Hero’ Noa, a young chimpanzee, shifting away from ‘#Ceaser’. Directed by Wes Ball the film tries to find new avenues to explore in the next instalments. It follows the revenge journey of Noa with the help of an orangutan and a human girl.
Noa (Owen Teague) is devastated after witnessing his clan being hijacked and his father killed by the ruthless apes. He blames himself for the tragedy because he had ventured out that night which led the cruel enemy to their village. He decides to take revenge and on the way meets a wisely orangutan Raka (Peter Macon) who offers help to locate the enemy. They bump into a human, girl, Mae (Freya Allan) who too has the same enemy. What and how it happens forms the crux of the story.
The screenplay lacks the build up of the character’s arcs unlike the franchises’ earlier instalments. The visual effects are splendid. The digital apes are remarkable as their movements, emotions look authentic on screen. There are a few dull moments which slackers the pace of the movie. Cinematography and other technical departments are excellent. The performances of Owen Teague and Peter Macon stand out. Freya Allan’s character should have been explored in more detail.
‘The Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes’ is visually appealing and it’s action drama will regale viewers.
