Review : The UP Files : Political entertainer!

Political films are on the rise these days and The UP Files is an addition to that list. The film is inspired from the life of Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, and his tenure. UP reportedly was considered a backward state and the crime rate was too high. There used to be a criminal and political nexus resulting in the development not reaching the common people. After taking over the political reins of UP by Yogi, drastic change in the scenario happened and how it was ftuctified is the story of the film.

The UP Files follows the information available in the public forum about Yogi ji and his management of the government. There do not seem to be anecdotes from Yogiji’s personal life which are still unknown. The writer, Stanish Gill, has tried to insert quite a few incidents from Yogiji’s life, but the impactfulness of the situations doesn’t arouse sympathy or curiosity. The film shows how sternly the criminal minded people are dealt with by the UP CM Abhsy Singh and how proactive he is. Director Niraj Sahai tells the story without creating unnecessary drama.
Manoj Joshi plays the lead role and his costumes are mannerisms are justifiable. He has portrayed the main character Abhay Singh with aplomb and wins hearts. Beautiful Majari Fadnis plays the role of IPS officer Sujata Menon with sincerity and leaves impact. Ali Asgar, Ashok Samarth, Milind Gunaji, Anil George, Shahbaz Khan, Vaibhav Mathur lend good support.
The UP Files essays the growth of the state under the able leadership of UP CM Abhay Singh convincingly.
