Review : Unn Sawali : Delicately handled mature love story!
In an Indian society an arranged marriage is a deep rooted concept. In the last few decades the number of love marriages has increased due to the change in societal thinking. But in both, love is of prime importance. Most of the love stories in movies revolve around teenagers and there seldom are films capturing mature love stories. #UnnSawali is a mature love story wherein both the partners had there share of love with different partners but come together for the happiness of their parents. In today’s urban society, most of the youngsters face one or more break ups, for variety of reasons and that doesn’t mean that they stop living. One must accept the destiny and move on thinking that whatever happens, happens for good.
Pranay (Bhushan Pradhan) is a young architect who is pressurized by his parents for a marriage. But he seems reluctant. But to please his parents he visits Anvi’s (Shivani Surve) place as both their parents want them to get married. So they get engaged. Though initially Pranay likes Anvi, Anvi declares to him that she is not interested in marriage. Dejected he returns home but he can not get over her. Anvi dreams of starting her own cafeteria but faces paucity of funds. When Pranay comes to know of this, he helps her through his investor friend Sawti (Ankita Bhoir). After opening of her cafeteria, one day Anvi finds out the truth about the finances and gets bugged. Pranay is head over hills in love with Anvi but he comes know of her past affair with Vinay (Ajinkya Nanavare). What transpires later and in between forms the crux of the story.
This urban mature love story is well written and delicately handled. Barring a few flaws the screenplay too is good. The director (Diwakar Naaik) has given a mature treatment to the story as he has resisted to incorporate heroic scenes. The emotional graph of he film keeps rising but the justification of Pranay’s initial disinterest in marriage should have come a bit earlier. The music is good and the title song Unn Sawali stands out. The production values are high and the cinematography is very good. Bhushan Pradhan has ably delivered a mature performance. Shivani Surve stands out as Anvi. She looks beautiful (even in serious scenes) in simple jeans-kurta ensembles and has displayed variety of emotions effortlessly. Ajinkya Nanavare, Ankita Bhoir and others lend good support.
Unn Sawali is a family entertainer and surely an one time watch.
