Rohitashv Gour and Himani Shivpuri celebrate World Book Day!
From being an essential part of people’s drawing-room to being the best travel buddy, books provide for a great company. Be it in any form – physical copies or the e-version of it, the joy of reading a good book knows no bounds. Spreading the importance of reading books &TV actors Katori Amma (Himani Shivpuri) from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan and Manmohan Tiwari (Rohitashv Gour) from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai share their love for books this World Book Day. According to them, books are a vital part of their lives, and they bring magic to reality.
Himani Shivpuri, aka Katori Amma, shares, “Books are an inseparable part of my life. I started reading at a very young age, and since then, I have started developing a mini-library of my favourite writers and genres. Books are indeed the best kind of addiction anyone can ever have. Since my younger days, I was a kitabi keeda; I would be engrossed in my favourite writers so much that I never paid much attention to my textbooks. Of course, this would give me a tough time during exams, lekin hume to padne ka chaska tha.” Adding further, she says, “Some of my all-time favourites are ‘One hundred years of solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez’, ‘The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho’, ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’, ‘The kite Runner by Khaled Husseini’, ‘The Shiva Trilogy by Amish’ and many more by Jhumpa Lahiri and Arundhati Roy. On this World Book Day, I would recommend that you incorporate reading as a habit in your lifestyle. Reading improves not only your communication skills but also Kitabein zindagi ko naye nazariye se dekhna sikhati.”
Rohitashv Gour aka Manmohan Tiwari says, “Akelapan ka sathi hota hai kitab. Whenever I feel low, I know where to go. I have made my happy corner in my house where I spend time with books and enter a whole new world. Hath mein ek cup – chai aur kitab, bas wahin saari thakan gayab. I also love arranging books in order of my preferences; it gives me satisfaction. It is always a tough question for me when somebody asks me to pick up my favourites. Mujhe natak ke kitab aur vyang padhna behad pasand hai. I love reading books and plays by Sharad Joshi, Prem Chand, Harichandra, Vijay Tendulkar, Mohan Rakesh. I can re-read their books a thousand times. On World Book Day, I would like to suggest people of all ages start taking up at least one book per quarter and then increasing the number of books as they improve their reading speed and appetite. Reading books is not just a hobby but can be a way of life.”
