Ruchi addresses KBC 14 host Mr Amitabh Bachchan, a fine example of ‘Incredible India’!

On Tuesday, 8th November, Sony Entertainment Television’s ‘knowledge-based’ game show, ‘#KaunBanegaCrorepati Season14’ would see contestant #Ruchi from #Gurugram, #Haryana grace the hotseat. The contestant who is a #MediaAnalyst would be playing an engaging game and displaying her wit and intelligence in front of host Mr #AmitabhBachchan. She would be engaging the host in different conversations as well, talking about her life and especially why she does not believe in a surname.

Upon arrival to the hotseat, Mr Bachchan would be asking her if there is a reason for not having a surname. The contestant would then respond by saying, “My full name is Ruchi. I feel that a surname puts you in a caste bracket. I feel your first name is self-sufficient, it is your individual identity. And like me, my husband too has his own identity. Since childhood, I have only been addressed as Ruchi and here, on the platform of Kaun Banega Crorepati, I am only Ruchi.” The host would then follow this up by talking about how many contestants on the hotseat express themselves beautifully and how Ruchi’s words and beliefs are after his own heart. He would especially commend the beliefs of all the women contestants who come to the hotseat as they often open themselves up on the seat, without being afraid of judgement or being silenced. He would then applaud the contestant on just being, “Mrs Ruchi”.

Adding on to the conversation, Mr. Bachchan would then highlight how the legendary surname “Bachchan” is actually his father’s identity, the great poet, Harivansh Rai ji’s penname, “As I have said before, my father never wanted to be in the ropes of caste. His surname “Bachchan” was his ‘kavi naam’ or penname. During my school admission, the teacher asked my parents what my surname was to be. It is then that my father on the spot decided that my surname would be, ‘Bachchan.’ I became the first example of being a, ‘Bachchan.’”

Ruchi would follow this up by saying, “Sir you are a fine example of, ‘Incredible India’, just like me. I am from Bihar and my husband is from Punjab. Both of us have stayed in and have grown up in Haryana. We have studied in Delhi and so, we are a combination of many states as well.” The host would comment on unity in diversity and how even after belonging to so many different communities, speaking different languages, we are one. Throughout the game the contestant would engage the host in many different subjects, talk about being a media analyst and even show how people love the show on Twitter through pictures.

Tune in to watch Ruchi on the hotseat on 8th November on ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati- 14’ at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
