Sanya Malhotra says, “Kathal was yet another learning curve for me as an actress”!
Sanya Malhotra is currently one of the most in-demand and bankable stars. She has come a long way since her debut in the 2016 sports drama ‘Dangal’. The Nitesh Tiwari-directed film, based on the real-life story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, catapulted Malhotra into the limelight and established her as one of the brightest young talents in Bollywood.
After a powerful performance in Dangal, the expectations from this performer were high, and in every film from LUDO, Pagglait which went on to receive immense love from viewers and critics. The strong word of mouth made the film a huge success, Badhaai Ho with Ayushmann Khurrana that went on to be the biggest hit at the box office and audiences hearts, Love Hostel, Pataakha, Meenakshi Sundareshwar, HIT: The First Case, Photograph, to her latest upcoming Kathal, she has brought something new on-screen for her fans to savour.
Speaking more about her upcoming character of a cop in Kathal, she shares, “Playing the role of a cop wasn’t easy, to be honest. I had to do a lot of background work to fit well into the character. I also learned a lot of things while trying to perfect my role. I also liked how my character was a female cop in a rural Indian setting, which is not seen very often. Kathal was yet another learning curve for me as an actress and artist.”
Sanya has remained grounded and focused on her craft, which reflects in her latest film, ‘Kathal’. The film is written by Ashok Mishra and directed by Yashowardhan Mishra for Netflix, Kathal, which will release on May 19, 2023. Other than this, we will see her in the action film Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara, Mrs., and in the biopic Sam Bahadur, starring Vicky Kaushal as Sam Manekshaw.
