‘Seed Mother’ Padmashri Rahibai Popere inaugurates ‘All-Women’ Promoted Food Making Facility in Shrirampur!
‘#SeedMother’ Padmashri Smt. #RahibaiPopere, a veteran farmer and conservationist, who was awarded Padmashri in the year 2020 for her efforts to save indigenous seeds and propagate traditional farming, today inaugurated the ‘all – women promoted’ food making facility of Maharashtra’s first rural home kitchen named as ‘Mom’s Kitchen’ located in Shrirampur of Ahmednagar District. She also unveiled a range of nutritious and ethnic Diwali Faral prepared by rural women at Mom’s Kitchen. On the occasion, she also interacted with the farmer members of Maharashtra’s leading ‘farm-to-home’ online vegetables and fruits platform, KisanKonnect.
Ahead of the Diwali festival, the rural women members from Mom’s Kitchen showcased a range of nutritious and healthy snacks, popularly called as ‘Diwali Faral’, in the presence of Padmashri Smt. Rahibai Popere. A range of ‘Faral’ included Chakali, Shankarpale, Karanji, Sev, Besan Laddoos, Rava Laddoos, etc. For the first time, the women of Mom’s Kitchen have decided to provide Diwali Faral to the corporate offices in Mumbai and Pune. These Diwali snacks will be made available to urbanites in Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar and Aurangabad through KisanKonnect’s online selling platform where people can procure it by ordering online.
On the occasion, the ‘Seed Mother’ called for the need to revisit the current food consumption patterns and adopt the habits of consuming nutritious, healthy, safe and zero-contaminated food for good health. She urged people to support those farmers who are relentlessly working to produce nutrition-based crops, vegetables and fruits for health benefits. She maintained that people should live a disease – free and healthier life by consciously choosing right type of food coming from authentic sources and with original ingredients.
Smt Rahibai Popere said, “I uphold the spirit of my fellow rural women of Shrirampur of preparing traditional, home-made food snacking items that have high nutritional values and health benefits. These women have renewed the rich tradition of healthy delicacies that are essential in dietary habits of people, especially in urban cities like Mumbai and Pune where people struggle to get authentic snacking. This Diwali, I urge people to go for nutritious, safe, hygienic and healthy food to lead a disease-free life”.
In her interaction with the farmers of KisanKonnect, Padmashri Rahibai Popere acknowledged the visionary step taken by the farmers to provide farm-fresh vegetables and fruits through an online channel and also thanked KisanKonnect for providing these women farmers a better livelihood option and access to the online marketing infrastructure to sell their authentic food items.
The farmers of KisanKonnect saluted Padmashri Padmashri Rahibai Popere for her contribution in farming and took a pledge to walk on the path shown by her.
