Sharad Malhotra reveals, ‘Quality over quantity has always been my mantra for life’!
A lot of TV actors have been doing music videos in between when the shooting of their shows came to a standstill due to the pandemic. Many opined that was the best way to earn when things were not going in our favour. Actor #SharadMalhotra, who has been doing a lot of music videos of late and has given hit tracks such as Bepanah Pyaar, Halo Re Halo, Door Ho Gaya, shares his opinion.
“Honestly, that was not the scenario for me. Yes, money is very important for our survival but right now money isn’t the primary factor that I look at. For me, it’s more about the content…It’s about what I’m asked to do and a lot of people who know me know that Sharad Malhotra is not the one who would be asking acha batao iss music video mein kitna paisa milega. The first thing I say is that you send me the track, I want to hear it and then decide on it …If the track is good then we can take the conversation ahead. Quality over quantity has always been my mantra for life…It’s the music and lyrics that drives me,” says the actor, who has been part of successful shows like Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap, Naagin, Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki. He is presently playing the leading role in Vidrohi.
Ask him about the money an actor is offered for music videos, he replies that he doesn’t want to get into the figures.
“The TRP game and how much each actor gets and how much each actor demands varies and it’s an individual’s choice. Everyone has got their own USP. So let’s not compare or talk about who is getting what. As an artist, we need to work hard and I am sure we all are doing that. It’s great to see a lot of soulful music videos coming up and like I said during the 90s, there was a trend of good videos when we had Alisha Chinai, Bally Sagoo, Daler Mehndi, who made cult videos. I think the 90s era was a boon and a boom for the music videos genre and seems the golden musical period is back again ..So In short, make hay while sun shines (smiles)
