Producer Abhay Sinha : Showman of the Bhojpuri film industry now enters marathi industry

Producer Abhay Sinha runs world’s biggest production house of Bhojpuri films. He has, so far, produced 73 films and the number gets increasd by the passing day. Mr Abhay Sinha has a tete-a-tete with our correspondent Keerti Kadam and spoke very passionately. ‘I have worked with Bhojpuri’s topmost stars viz. Manoj Tiwari, Ravi Kishan, Kesari, Nirahua etc. and also have introduced some of the current lot of successful actors’ he said starting conversation. That’s why he is referred to as Showman of the Bhojpuri film industry. He has always been a fan of Manoj Tiwari and when he wanted to produce his first film, Bandhan Tute Na, Manoj Tiwari was the obvious choice to play the lead. Incidentally the film was a silver jubilee hit. Those days movies used to run for weeks in single theatres, unlike today’s films whose fate gets decided on the first weekend of it’s release. Since then both of them, Abhay and Manoj, are thick friends and recently at a short notice Manoj Tiwari, who is a sitting MP now, flew to London for Bhojpuri film awards. One phone call from Abhay Sinha and he rescheduled all his work and went to London just to please his friend for which Abhay ji is grateful.

Abhay Sinha has been connected to the entertainment industry for the longest time as they had a family business of music distribution. He has been associated with all the music labels except T-series. Obviously he also has Yashi Music, a company catering to Bhojpuri songs, which are a rage in North India. He floated his production company, Yashi Films, which has been producing films for the last 15 years. Abhay ji has dabbled in other regional films too, producing Bengali and Marathi films. In fact a new marathi film starring Marathi superstar Subodh Bhave Bhaybhit, which released 28th of February 2020, is produced by Abhay Singh. He is extremely happy the way film is shaped and expects it to do good business. ‘I entered Marathi film industry due to its rich culture and deep understanding of Marathi literature. As my head office is based in Mumbai, I thought of contributing to the Marathi industry by making a marathi film. My first Marathi film ‘Bhaybheet’ and certainly not the last. I plan to produce more Marathi films in future’ expressed Abhay ji. His first Marathi film ‘Bhaybhit’ is a thriller and one of its kind ever made on marathi celluloid and has impeccable performance by Subhodh Bhave, Purva Gokhale, Madhu Sharma, Yatin Karyekar and others.

Abhay ji primarily focuses on Bhojpuri films because, though he stays in Mumbai, he belongs to Patna, Bihar. He has special affinity towards his mother tounge and is proud about it. Being an active member in IMPAA, he wants to promote Bhojpuri cinema. He has handled variety of subjects through his films and he is responsible for the first Bhojpuri film shot in London, i.e. Pyar Ke Bandhan. Janam Janam Ka Saath, Hum Bahubali, Parivar, Suhag, Dulhe Raja, Chandu Ki Chameli, Aaj Ke Karan Arjun, Ranbhoomi are a very few names of Abhay Ji’s films which were blockbusters. He was conferred on with ‘Bihari Asmita Award’ by the government and he feels that it has increased his responsibility towards Bhojpuri films. Abhay Sinha is the chairman of Yashi Films Pvt Ltd. and is an M.B.A. Graduate and a social activist associated with several N.G.Os. Abhay Sinha, The Managing Director, was unanimously elected for the post of Vice-President, Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association. The prime body which safeguards Indian Film Producers’ issues.

Abhay Sinha launched Yashi Films and Television Institute, for the benefit of North Indian youth, wherein authentic film making including acting is taught thus benefitting Bhojpuri film industry getting newer talent. He overlooks everything and is particular about smallest thing being perfect. Even in production from scripts to selecting lead pair he has a say. ‘The film making is an art and I having been associated with organizations taking initiatives and curing the problems of underprivileged people of the society has a great vision to address it via my films. Most of the movies made are sensitive and add up for the upgradation of societal values’ philophosied Mr Sinha.

He did dabble in Hindi film production. He co-produced Policegiri with Sanjay Dutt and Prachi Desai in the lead. But the film bombed at the box office and now he seems averse to Bollywood projects. He is also world’s only producer who conceptualized and organized International Bhojpuri Films Awards Function called ‘IBFA’, which was staged in Mauratius followed by Dubai, London, Malaysia and Singapore. IBFA 2020 is planned in one of the important cities of the Gulf. Abhay Sinha’s upcoming projects include 10 Bhojpuri films to be entirely shot in London and 3 in Dubai.
