Slack Plot!
Sniff is the story of Sunny Gill (Khushmeet Gill) who cannot smell. An accident in a school lab leads to unpredictable results of mixing different elements and suddenly, our hero is cured. Not only can he smell roses and the pickles made in his family factory, he can smell things up to two kilometers! How he uses his extraordinary smelling power to solve a car theft case in his housing society forms major part of the narrative.
PLUS POINTS:
Khsuhmeet Gill is a promising discovery and steals the scene effortlessly. The supporting cast that includes Manmeet Singh, Surekha Sikri, Sushmita Mukherjee, Rajesh Puri and Putul Guha are earnest.
MINUS POINTS:
The child actors behave above their age and say deep philosophical lines like‘’Can you smell fear, pain and sadness?’’ Sunny’s friends also don’t get much time and the mystery of the car robbery is detected with utter ease by the smelling sensation Sunny.Though it is an interesting narrative Gupte’s story is sadly lost in execution.
THE VERDICT:
It is a light-hearted film, not just for kids. You can also relive your childhood with the film but all said and done, Amole Gupte, who gave us the delightful Stanley Ka Dabba, falters with this one, because of a slack plot and treatment.
