Songs that’ll make you fall in love, again

There have been countless instances where a song has played a crucial role in audiences falling in love with a movie all the more. For generations, filmmakers have released songs as the first glance of their upcoming movie and the Bollywood fans have accepted them with wide arms. Over the years, Bollywood music has drastically changed, some may say for the better but some may say they still love the good old melodies of charming love songs of yesteryear. While in the past decade, remixes and raps have dominated the charts there have been a few chartbusters that have ruled hearts across the board.

As the world celebrates Fête de la Musique or International Music Day this month, here’s a list of songs that we have loved throughout the past decade. These songs have been successful in capturing every emotion and making us fall in love all over again.

Zoobie Doobie – 3 Idiots – Zoobie Doobie was just the perfect way to describe how Rancho and Pia were feeling when they fall in love with each other. Swanand Kirkire’s brilliant lyrics blended perfectly with Shantanu Moitra’s tune and was sung by two of Hindi Film industry’s most charming voices Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam. The song that also features Boman Irani is not the usual running-around-the-trees kind of romantic song but it will still make you Zoobi Doobi for sure!  Still not convinced? Okay, then you must surely watch this song to see Aamir Khan shake a leg like a pro. Watch 3 Idiots on 20th June at 8 PM on Sony MAX.

Love is a waste of time – PK – We are staying with the dynamic quadruple of Swanand Kirkire, Shantanu Moitra, Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam – this time to talk about a love song, which ironically claims it to be a “Waste of Time”. The song comes just when you start loving Aamir and Anusha’s chemistry in the movie and makes you fall in “love” with PK and Jaggu all the more. The song leads to some interesting series of events in the movie but there is a high possibility your mind may be stuck on this duet. Watch PK on 27th June at 8 PM only on Sony MAX.

Jag Ghoomiya – Sultan – There is hardly a better way to describe love with Salman dancing, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan singing on Irshad Kamil’s lyrics. This track has love written all over it. If you were reading this and if you have watched Sultan before, there is a high possibility that you have paused to watch this song again. Correct? Well, not your fault. We would be right when we say Vishal – Shekhar nailed it with the composition of this song which captures Salman’s every emotion in the movie for Anusha. Be it magical lyrics such as baarishon ke mausamon kee, bheegee hariyaalee tu, sardiyon mein gaalon pe jo, aatee hai vo laalee tu or Salman’s signature spin – this song will offer just about everything. Watch Sultan on 21st June at 8 PM only on Sony MAX.

Raat bhar – Heropanti – Any playlist of Bollywood songs is probably incomplete without at least one Arijit Singh song. Agree? Well, assuming it is a yes, here’s a song that gave a glimpse of Tiger Shroff’s dancing capabilities and also introduced us to the gorgeous Kirti Sanon. This track sung by Arijit and Shreya in 2014 still rules our hearts and if you are wondering why, we suggest you to watch Heropanti on 24th June at 3 PM only on Sony MAX.

Tum Hi aana – Marjaavan – “Bande na, dil se gaya hay yaar” there is a high possibility you will say this once you hear Jubin Nautiyal sing this amazingly slow yet powerful track Tum hi aana from Marjaavan. Composed by Payal Dev this is probably the song you would want to listen to when you are in the mood for a slow love ballad. Watch Marjaavan on 18th June at 8 PM only on Sony MAX.
