Tandoor

‘Tandoor’ producer Chitra Vakil Sharma has plateful of projects on her hand

Chitra Vakil Sharma along with Chandni Soni is all set to release their production venture “Tandoor”. The show, that will stream on Ullu, has been directed by Nivedita Basu. The web series went on floors soon after the lockdown restriction was lifted in Maharasthra and the government had given a green signal for shootings to resume. And Sharma revealed that though it was challenging, they were able to finish the shoot with zero cases on the sets.

Sharing her experience, she said, “We started shooting right after the Covid lockdown was lifted and the industry was still resuming. We planned a 14 days stringent shoot with lots of precautions and I had to ensure Covid-19 stays at bay from my set. We had to ensure there were no Covid cases on the set and sticking to the timelines was only possible as we managed to do our pre-production extremely well.”

She further added, “Also, Nivedita knew what she wanted when the shot started, so it made it quite easy.” Featuring Tanuj Virwani and Rashami Desai in lead roles, the show is a crime thriller inspired by true events. And though it was challenging, Sharma confessed that they had a ball of a time while shooting the show, and she even credited Desai for making their first day more fun.

She said, “Day one was very exciting. The entire team met on the sets and all of us were absolutely delighted and were waiting to get back to work. There were happiness and joy on each one’s face and to top it up Rashami got a Tandoor-themed cake. The bond was immediately established between all of us and then every day was as interesting as day one till the last day of the shoot.” Talking about her lead actors, Sharma said, “Rashami is an extremely professional actor. She is a punctual and fun-loving person. Tanuj is a great human being, I can write an essay on him. He is so humble and a fabulous actor. Nivedita (Basu) has brought together an amazing pair, their chemistry will put the screen on fire. You shall all notice it soon.”  And guess what, she had a similar reaction on hearing the title like many of us. She shared, “I am a foodie so I visualised tandoori food. But I told Nivedita that it sounds so intense. I told her that she is going to kill it.”

What next? “Nivedita and I are doing three to four more projects together. One of them should go on the floor by mid-April (fingers crossed). Raktanchal – 2 is already on the floor, and I am also doing a film called Sarvagun Asampan,” she said.  “We have completed the post-production of my film LAC. I am also developing and acquiring a lot of interesting contents,” Sharma concluded.
