Tata Sky Theatre presents a fresh roster of family dramas, celebrating relationships

Relationships have been through a lot this year. Whether it’s the lack of physical contact or spending long hours in the confines of one’s home, bonds have strained and strengthened across society. However, one thing has stood out in all of this ordeal, a newfound respect and gratitude for the relationships we have. Celebrating this sentiment of family and love, Zee Theatre presents a fresh roster of family dramas this August, with stories that are bound to move hearts.
Gudiya Ki Shaadi : In the midst of her wedding hubbub, Gudiya loses her eyebrows due to a mix-up in her shampoo and her hair removal cream. A comedy of errors follows as she struggles to pacify her family that all is not lost. ‘Gudiya Ki Shaadi’ skilfully takes a light-hearted jab at the standards of beauty set by society. As the family goes through one hilarious mishap after the other, it uncovers their imperfections and affections towards one another which makes for a relatable watch. Rishton Ka Live Telecast : Members of a middle-class family, who quarrel endlessly, are forced to bond for the sake of a reality show. A pretence demanding that they learn more about each other in those few days than they have done throughout their lives, all for a hefty sum of money. Starring Aakanksha Gade, Aanjjan Srivastav, Himani Shivpuri, Piyush Ranade, Tapasya Naik.
Vaastav : Highlighting the struggles of the lower-middle class in Mumbai city, ‘Vaastav’ tells the tale of a loving, close-knit family wrecked by financial and moral adversities. As the Sawant family finds it hard to make ends meet, one son blames the parents for his failures, and the other resorts to a life of crime in the underworld. The humdrum life of this troubled family seems beyond help when a surprising twist brings bittersweet redemption. Doll’s House : ‘Doll’s House’ is a story of Keya, a married woman, who struggles between protecting a secret that could shake her marriage and discovering if her husband’s love for her goes beyond treating her like his prized doll. A classic play brought to life on screen, this teleplay highlights the dichotomy of marriage and the position it puts women in. Starring Swastika Mukherjee, Subhrajyoti Barat, Ratnabali Bhattacharya, Dibyendu Bhattacharya.
