The Bollywood actor turned humanitarian Somy Ali rues, ‘Too bad that we don’ t have the Rakhi ritual’!
#SomyAli sounds emotional talking about her #RakshaBandhan celebrations. The #Bollywood actor turned humanitarian also shares that every year this festival brings back happy memories spent with her sibling while growing up.
“The closest person I am to in this entire universe is my younger brother Mohammad (who owns an ad agency in Los Angeles). Too bad that we don’t have the Rakhi ritual,” says Somy, who was born in Pakistan and now lives in Miami where she runs her NGO No More Tears.
She continues, “Nonetheless, I tie an imaginary rakhi to my chota bhai every Raksha Bandhan and in return he makes a donation to No More Tears so that I can save more lives.”
The loving sister then talks about her younger brother and what makes their bond so special. She also says that she and Mohammed understand each other well.
“A brother is your protector. He is your confidante and one who will never judge you, yet correct you when you are heading towards the wrong path. He will never let you give up and always be by your side. This bond can never be broken no matter how much we argue or even not speak with each other for months over some idiotic things we said to one another in rage. Yet he will always make sure you are doing okay. A brother is more than sharing the same blood. He is the one who will never let you down no matter what the circumstances might be. Since my mom was a huge fan of Muhammad Ali, the boxer my brother was named after him,” she adds.
