The Subramaniam Foundation presents 31st Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’!

#TheSubramaniamFoundation presents the 31st year of #LakshminarayanaGlobalMusicFestival which will be held digitally between January 11 to January 16, 2022 celebrating the #AzadikaAmritMahotsav (the 75th year of India’s Independence). The festival is presenting a youth festival for the first time on January 11th which happens to be the 111th birth anniversary of Prof. V. Lakshminarayana, father and guru of Dr. L. Subramaniam.
The artists featured in the youth festival are Hindustani vocalist Ankita Joshi (primary disciple of Pt. Jasraj), Hindustani violinist Yadnesh Raikar (primary disciple of Milind Raikar) and Carnatic child prodigy singer Rahul Vellal, with their accompanying musicians.
The festival is supported by the Vishwakarma University, Pune and the Lakshminarayana Global Centre for Excellence (LGCE).

Kavita Krishnamurti, artistic director of the LGMF quoted – Due to Covid we are conducting this year’s festival digitally following our successful concerts in the previous years. Hopefully when covid restrictions are removed we can get back to presenting our live concerts once again with Indian and global artists.


The other artists featured in the current year are stalwarts like – the legendary drummer Billy Cobham, versatile blues harmonica player Corky Siegel and the first recipient of Oscar for sound design from Asia Resul Pookutty, who will be in conversation with Dr. L. Subramaniam.


The leading slide guitarist Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya will be performing with Pt. Tanmoy Bose and a solo by Kamanche artist from Israel Noam Dayan will be featured. The world premiere of the songs from Beyond Borders album – Miss Melody featuring the iconic Herbie Hancock and Lullaby featuring Kavita Krishnamurti & Corky Siegel will also be released.


Bindu and Ambi Subramaniam will perform to commemorate their grandmother Sethalakshmi Ammal’s birth centenary. Dr. L. Subramaniam’s granddaughter Mahati Subramaniam will also be featured in a violin duet with him. For the closing of the festival Dr. L. Subramaniam will be premiering his composition Times Must Change featuring Larry Coryell, Chris Rhyne, Jerry Watts, Joel Taylor, Premik Russell and Subash Chandran.
